Marion Ray Acton, 87, Grace Village Retirement Community, Winona Lake, entered the Kingdom at 4:53 a.m. Nov. 10, 2016.  He was born April 15, 1929, in Muncie, to William John and Dora Dean Huey Acton. He was married on Aug. 7, 1948, to Carmen Darlene Hays, who survives.  He served in the U.S. Army Airborne from 1946-47.  A private graveside service will be held Monday at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Milford, and officiated by Chaplain Bryan Benjamin. A memorial visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Grace Village Fellowship Café (front entrance), Winona Lake. Clayton Howard, 89, Silver Lake, died at 1:28 p.m. Nov. 8, 2016, at Mason Healthcare, Warsaw. He was born July 28, 1927, in Gunlock, Ky., to Silas and Mona Prater Howard. On July 1, 1946, he married Elsie Neeley, who survives. He retired from Woodcraft Inc., North Manchester, in 2001 after 15 years. He formerly was employed at Norfolk & Western Rail Road for 12 years and White Metal, Warsaw, for 16 years. 

 Steven J. Neidig, 68, Bourbon, passed away in the morning of Nov. 8, 2016, in his home. He was born May 30, 1948, to Joseph and Elizabeth Reichert Neidig. He married Lois Rogers on Oct. 7, 1973; she died March 16, 1992. He married Randy Weller on Jan. 1, 2000, and she survives.

William “Bill” DeGaetano, 84, Winona Lake, and a longtime resident of Warsaw, went home to be with the Lord at 7:10 a.m. Nov. 5, 2016, at Grace Village Health Care, Winona Lake. 

Joseph William “Joe” Hughes, 87, Syracuse, passed away at 4:28 p.m. Nov. 7, 2016, at Goshen Hospital.  He was born July 6, 1929, in Syracuse, to John P. and Valeria Lucille Hopple Hughes. On Aug. 27, 1949, in Benton, he married Ethel Mae Reed, who survives. 

The Rev. Paul Dean Tinkel, 83, Warsaw, went home to be with his Lord and Savior at 8:50 a.m. Nov. 7, 2016, in his residence, surrounded by his family and loved ones. On Feb. 26, 1933, he was born in Wabash to Arthur Henry and Lylia Mae Starbuck Tinkel. He was united in marriage to Judy Elizabeth Foy on Feb. 27, 1953, in Beckley, W.Va. She survives. He was a graduate of Akron High School, class of 1951, and received an associate degree from Great Commission Bible School, Anderson. He then received his bachelor’s degree from Ashland (Ohio) College University and Seminary.  He held many pastorates, including Gatewood Brethren Church, Fayetteville, W.Va.; Brush Valley Brethren Church, Adrian, Pa.; Roanoke First Brethren Church; Warsaw First Brethren Church; New Paris First Brethren Church; Milford First Brethren Church; West Eel River Church of the Brethren; and he started the Meadow Crest Brethren Church, Fort Wayne. These churches included six building programs, and he served on several district and denominational boards and committees.

Margaret "Peggy" Jagodzinski, 67, passed away Nov. 6, 2016, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.  She was a 1967 graduate of Warsaw Community High School and a 1970 graduate of St. Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing.  She cared for the newborn for 35 years. Thirty-two of those years were dedicated to the care of premature

Harold Eugene “Jack” Silvers, 86, of Nappanee, died at his grandson Tony Silvers’ residence, surrounded by his family at 3:15 p.m. Nov. 5, 2016, after a brief illness.   He was born May 3, 1930, in Hicksville, Ohio, to John and Alta Silvers. On May 11, 1951, he married June Maust. She preceded him in death on Sept. 28, 2001.

Donald Lee Evilsizor, 57, lost his battle with primary brain cancer on Nov. 4, 2016. Don was born May 14, 1959, to Donald Leroy and Judy Gaerte Evilsizor in Columbia City.

The Rev. Paul Dean Tinkel, 83, Warsaw, went home to be with his Lord and Savior at 8:50 a.m. Nov. 7, 2016, in his residence. On Feb. 26, 1933, he was born in Wabash to Arthur Henry and Lylia Mae Starbuck Tinkel. On Feb. 27, 1953, in Beckley, W.VA., he was united in marriage to Judy Elizabeth Foy, who survives in Warsaw. They were married 63 years.

ROCHESTER — Eva B. Green, 89, Rochester, went home to be with Jesus at 1:07 p.m. Nov. 7, 2016, at Hickory Creek of Rochester.  She was born July 13, 1927, in Rochester, to Herman Gail and Helen Esther Miller Mathews. On Dec. 29, 1943,  in Rochester, she married Calvin L. Green.  who  died May 2, 1996. A celebration of Eva’s life will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Riverview Community Church, 3780 Ind. 110, Tippecanoe. Pastor Rod Ruberg will officiate. Dr. William Parke died at home on November 5, 2016.  William Parke was born April 4, 1935, in Detroit, Michigan, to Palmer and Alice (nee Clark) Parke. He graduated from Indiana University School of Medicine in 1963 and married Mary Eva (Molly) Nesbitt that same year. 

Mabel Hilda "Micky" Kurtaneck, 91, Winona Lake, passed away at 2:30 a.m. Nov. 5, 2016, at Grace Village Health Care, Winona Lake.  She was born June 8, 1925, in Derby, England, to James Frederick and Hilda Frost Walmsley. On Aug. 26, 1944, she was married to Nickolas Kurtaneck, who passed away in 2009. 

Mildred Faye Fox She was a graduate of Morgue (Ky.) High School and spent most of her life in the Warsaw area. She was a waitress and also worked as a packer for Warsaw Moving and Storage.

 Randall A. “Randy” Cook, 69, North Webster, passed away on Nov. 3, 2016, at his residence.  Born July 6, 1947, in Allen County, he was the son of Jack A. and Gloria J. Gruesbeck Cook.

Thomas Stafford, 76, Warsaw, passed away at 2:35 p.m. Nov. 3, 2016, in Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. He was born July 20, 1940, to  Herlin and Bonnie Risner Stafford

NAPPANEE – Rita A. Miller, 61, Nappanee, died at 4:55 a.m. Nov. 4, 2016, at Goshen Hospital. She was born Feb. 7, 1955, in Goshen, to Marvin and Christine Collinsworth Miller. Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, and for one hour prior to the funeral at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.   Burial will be in South Union Cemetery. ***** Memorials may be given to help with funeral expenses.
