Aly Reiff of Whitko and Anne Secrest of Tippecanoe Valley were named to the 2017 Indiana Basketball Coaches Association/Subway Supreme 15 girls basketball team on Wednesday. Warsaw’s Dayton Groninger was named to the large school (Classes 3A and 4A) all-state team.

There are several rematches for area teams, and two area squads drew first-round byes in the boys basketball sectional pairings released Sunday evening by the IHSAA.
The IHSAA Executive Committee announced Friday it has approved the addition of a third class for boys and girls soccer. The measure was approved by a 17-2 vote and will be implemented this fall. The new classifications will be based on enrollment. The IHSAA released new enrollment figures on Monday, and will announced new classifications for all sports in May.
Lakeland Christian Academy lost its last home boys basketball game of the year 65-50 to South Bend Community Baptist Tuesday night. Individual statistics were not available as of press time.

After coming from behind to tie the game at 23 at the end of the third quarter, Lakeland Christian fell 35-30 to Bethany Christian in a 1A Sectional 52 girls basketball game at Fort Wayne Blackhawk Tuesday night. The Lady Cougars trailed 10-2 after the first quarter, and pulled within three, 15-12, by halftime. Lakeland Christian outscored the Lady Bruins 11-8 in the third period to forge a tie.
WINONA LAKE – Lakeland Christian Academy doesn’t have a lot of postseason history to draw from, being the newest member of the IHSAA in the area. And the history that’s there isn’t exactly stellar.

After a 25-25 tie at halftime, visiting Fort Wayne Blackhawk outscored Lakeland Christian 12-4 in the third quarter and went on to beat the Lady Cougars 46-39 Thursday night. Junior Hope Fancil scored 17 points, and senior Melissa Goss had nine points and 10 rebounds in her final home game. Jess Slone had nine rebounds to go with four points.

Josh McDaniel had 18 points for the Cougars, and Jake Harmon added nine for the home team. Lakeland Christian (4-6) will travel to Argos for a game Tuesday.
