Letters To The Editor

Editor, Times-Union: Dear Mr. Fribley, I have never, ever, ever called MAGAs “stupid” or “brain dead.” How interesting that those are words chosen by you — not me. I suggest you re-read my ad explaining what D.E.I. really is and why it had become an important teaching tool in businesses, law enforcement, education, public service programs, the military, etc. Are you suggesting that we do not need to learn to understand people different from us so that we can get along better with each other? Or are you part of the faction of believers who insists we all should think alike, look alike, behave alike and reject all who are in any way different? Do you believe what Trump and his administration have suggested, that having DEI programs in place means the “white” jobs will be replaced by unqualified “other color” people?

Editor, Times-Union: Though it is highly unlikely fervent Trump supporters will even consider news or analysis outside the strict confines of Fox News, Newsmax, and entertainers-presumed-to-be-journalists like Joe Rogan, it would behoove them (especially), and all of us to see what people outside our fringe bubbles are saying.

Editor, Times-Union: As a child I remember my family was neither Democrat or Republican. Their motto was always to be fair, learn about the ones running for office. Mom always said there is good and bad in both sides. You must always remember to vote for the person you feel is right for America. We may not always agree with those in office, but stand behind each one to unite our nation. We do not see eye to eye but maybe at least try to understand their viewpoint.

Editor, Times-Union: I attended the No Kings protest after I left work on Saturday the 14th. I figured it would be peaceful since we are far more civilized in Indiana than they are on both coasts. It was nice to be in opposition to most of what the people believed and not be beat up. There were some guys with Trump flags driving by that yelled at them. But I was expecting that. At least no one threw anything at them.

Editor, Times-Union: I don’t understand Miss Winona Lake. She writes about DEI (diversity, equality and inclusion). She writes, “We have different experiences, genealogies, beliefs, talents, family traditions and ideas.” But if we are MAGA (Make America Great Again), she calls us stupid and brain-dead.

Editor, Times-Union: I live on a rural route and typically for several months, I will not receive mail one day per week. Starting last Saturday, I received no mail but it was delivered late Sunday afternoon. This week, no received on Monday or Tuesday. I went to the Post Office and was able to get it. I was told my Wednesday mail was out for delivery. Not sure where it was delivered because I again did not receive mail on Wednesday or Thursday. I need to make another trip to town to retrieve mail. Multiple people were at the Post Office for the same reason. We were told that three routes have been added. Apparently, these routes have no carriers?

Editor, Times-Union: The VFW Auxiliary Post 1126 of Warsaw would like to thank Rural King and Runnings.

Editor, Times-Union: Eighty-one years ago on June 6, a fight for the Free World was waged and won on the beaches of Normandy. The mission was to defeat Hitler, the Nazis and fascist rule in Europe. This year we again honor those troops for their bravery, their determination, and their sacrifices. This year D-Day is “on our own shores,” and now we must fight for the veterans who fought so bravely for us.

Editor, Times-Union: In previous letters to the editor, I wrote about possible candidates for the 51st state in the Union. Those candidates were divided into three categories: current U.S. territories, Article IV Section 3 state (one that could split off from a current state) and potential new territories. An Article IV Section 3 state is highly unlikely and has not been done since the creation of West Virginia.

Editor, Times-Union: With Republicans in control of all branches of government in Washington and Indianapolis, Hoosiers are beginning to understand what it means for their lives, and it's not the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow we were promised. There's hardly a person who hasn't felt the negative impact of what Republicans have wrought.

Editor, Times-Union: For over 55 years, the Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary has been holding an annual fundraiser selling gourmet nuts and candy. We have been notified that our supplier is closing its door at the end of June.

Editor, Times-Union: Several weeks ago, I had an operation of my foot, I would like to thank several people.

Editor, Times-Union: Donald Trump’s first 100 days have provided the most destruction, lawlessness, and cruelty our country has ever experienced. His words, his actions, his broken (yes, broken) promises have stripped America of its robust and growing economy and of its position of respect, admiration and strength the world over. In just 100 days the majority of America’s people have become angrier, poorer, more divided, and more fearful for their futures than ever before in history. His incessant autographing of unlawful, unconstitutional, hateful executive orders (over 140 of them) has been — in his mind — a crowning achievement.

Editor, Times-Union: Democrats have a long history of supporting lawlessness and they have the nerve to say no one is above the law. At times they act like spoiled children that expect to get their way all the time even if they have been naughty.

Editor, Times-Union: We have a "gem" in news reporting here in Warsaw!

Editor, Times-Union: Is there no one in the Democrat Party able to repair this mind-numbing broken record? Faced with having to come up with a message the American citizens will listen to is difficult after having lied to them for all these years. Rep. AOC and her socialist geriatric side kick have gone on tour and have come up with a new name for Donald Trump and his friend Elon Musk ... Oligarchy. I guess it’s better than Hitler or Nazi but it is a word made popular by Vladimir Lenin during the Bolshevik ascension to power in the Russian Revolution of 1917, ushering in the Communist Party.

Editor, Times-Union: Something special is happening in Warsaw. Slate Electric Vehicles has announced plans to bring new life to the old LSC Communications building — a facility that once printed millions of Sears catalogs for homes across America. There’s a kind of poetic irony here: a building that once helped connect people to the future is about to do it all over again, only now through electric vehicles instead of printed pages.

Editor, Times-Union: Has anyone looked at their property bill lately? If you have, you should notice that your taxes have gone up even if you’ve done nothing to the property. When the state amended the Constitution to limit the property taxes, it put counties in a bind as they could only tax the property 1-3% the gross assessed value of the property depending on the type of property in question. Assessors got around this by inflating the values of property. If you have made no improvements to the property, do you honestly think it’s worth an additional 25K? You don’t, but the government thinks so.

Editor, Times-Union: The recent petition for rezoning agricultural land to heavy industrial was unanimously denied by both the Area Plan Commission and our County Commissioners. The decisions were made following their research, study, and consideration of viewpoints from all concerned.

Editor, Times-Union: Thank you, Warsaw! What a wonderful community we live in! What a great feeling it is to see people lined up outside the Pavilion at 10:30, waiting on us to open the doors at 11. It makes all our hard work worthwhile, when we see all the smiling faces coming in. You would think we were giving away free steak dinners, instead of selling a bowl of soup, a sandwich and a piece of pie.

Editor, Times-Union: As a lifelong resident and engaged citizen, I am writing to express serious concerns about the continued existence of the Turkey Creek Dam and Dike Conservancy District (TCDDCD), a special tax district originally formed for the limited purpose of repairing a single dam and a single dike. Those projects are now complete. Yet the tax remains.

Editor, Times-Union: Oregon’s Hillsboro Herald printed this article on April 16th. It is titled, “190 years of Farming ends as Latest Massive Data Centers and Factories Expand in Hillsboro.”

Editor, Times-Union: I’ve heard folks say I have prime farmland. What I haven’t heard mentioned are the eleven towers scattered across it - eleven towers that you have to till, plant, and harvest around. Heaven forbid you hit one. Planes that spray my fields can’t hit the full area because of these obstacles. I’ve got four irrigation units running to irrigate the best I can, where normally two would suffice.

Editor, Times-Union: It is disturbing to find out that our rural KREMC co-op signed a nondisclosure agreement with Prologis long before it was announced that they were seeking farmland in the middle of an agriculture zoned area. Dalton Caley, “representing” KREMC, spoke in favor of the farmland being rezoned to I-3. I am sure this wasn’t supported by the membership of the co-op since no communication was ever done about the proposed project.

Editor, Times-Union: It took 250 years to build a nation that was the envy of the world. It took four months to tear it down. Countries that once admired, envied, and emulated us … countries that had our backs and gave their support and spilled their own blood defending us in our times of need … now unite against us in fear, disappointment, and disbelief. Countries that once were our greatest adversaries now laugh at us and relish our downfall and weakness. America is no longer first in anything; it is alone.
