Editor, Times-Union:
Leesburg Cemetery is farmed for cash rent and not by Larry Kammerer, never has been. Approved board minutes must be a mistake. Human error in minutes is my guess!
Board minutes, all contracts and documents remain in the trustee’s office! You are welcome to read whatever you can on Gateway. You are welcome to sit in the office and read public documents with trustee present. Documents do not leave the trustee’s office.
We are required to post meeting notices on the office door. Budget meetings are advertised on Gateway. The first meeting of the year is the first Tuesday after the first Monday of January by law for the board to organize. There is nothing in the law that says we have to use social media for anything! Social media is mostly AI and fake news, a good way to get hacked! Website may be in the future and maybe we could use the county website for trustee-required information.
Anderson Lawncare’s price went up due to mowing two cemeteries instead of one! They were the lowest bidder.
Large increase in salaries? Salaries with no benefits! I make $3,000 now instead of $1,500 a year for Plain Township. According to you, I make too much! Yes, I work for other townships also, why? Maybe because I know what I’m doing! You have no idea the work involved with Gateway monthly and annual reporting. Timely reports to federal and state government, that I do also! I do the work personally that some townships, towns and counties hire a CPA to do. Federal reporting changed for 1099’s NEC, I do all the reporting for W-2’s, Form 1099’s, 941’s, INTIME, EFTPS. How about I quit and you take over my part-time job at Plain Township!
I quoted your slander remarks straight from the Times-Union! You said according to the paper, allegedly taking financial advantage of their roles.
Slander is a false, spoken statement that hurts a person's good name or reputation. It is a type of defamation. When you say something untrue out loud to someone else on purpose to damage another person's character, you are committing slander.
Maybe the paper misquoted you just like the board minutes were misquoted regarding the 5 acres of land that belongs to Plain Township, never given away!
Those audit findings are from the previous township trustee. Craig and I worked many hours getting all of that straightened out and all balanced! Look up my letter to the editor back then about that! Nobody cares though!
The township board is responsible for organizing as president, secretary and member. They organize as a board of finance. They receive and approve the annual financial report, they receive and approve the budget. They set the salaries of the trustee, clerk, administrative assistant and board members in Plain Township. That’s their role as a board member!
Vote November 3rd for Robert Bishop, Larry Kammerer and Greg Anderson. Board members that care about Plain Township!
