You don’t have to know me well to know that I love to fish.

I am quick to say we romanticize more about things as time continues to pass longer after these things happen. Whether it’s an event, an old town or neighborhood, memories with friends, and favorite sports moments.

You’ll see a lot of printed columns and videos in tribute to the author’s fathers in the week leading up to Father’s Day this Sunday.

Whitko senior Gwen Howard put a fantastic cap on a remarkable career on Saturday, winning the state championship in shot put at the IHSAA Girls Track and Field State Finals. Howard also took third …

In what has already been quite the year to remember for the numerous Warsaw athletic programs, the school was able to add another trophy to its collection on Saturday as junior Jordan Randall captured the state championship in high jump at the Boys Track and Field State Finals in Indianapolis.

Are there any folks who are starting to believe professional basketball is (sort of) a spring sport? I’d rather share thoughts about pro basketball in June anyway than any other sport (except for anything big happening int eh NFL).

Do high school sports feel any different to you today?

Warsaw's Lady Tigers played defense well enough, but struggled at the plate in its 5-0 loss to Elkhart in the Goshen 4A Softball Sectional championship game Saturday morning.

I crave data even more when it’s hard to sleep. I was looking at high school enrollment comparisons from 2024 to 2025, and you can see the Northern Lakes Conference (NLC) school enrollments will be affected by the smaller classroom sizes among grades 9 through 12(recession babies, a consequence of lower area childbirths between 2008 and 2013).

Main Street Warsaw is partnering with the Kosciusko Community YMCA to launch a 14-week Downtown Warsaw Run/Walk Training Program, designed to support and prepare both runners and walkers of all experience levels for their personal fitness and racing goals.

With a sectional championship on the line on Thursday night, the Tippecanoe Valley and Columbia City softball teams met at Fairfield High School and treated spectators to an incredibly well-played game. Pitching was the story all game long, with the Lady Eagles outlasting the Lady Vikings in a 4-2 win.

For the second straight season, the Warsaw baseball team entered sectional play champions of the Northern Lakes Conference, playing some of their best baseball and hopeful to make a long postseason run.

Anyone associated with Warsaw Lady Tiger softball, whether a player, coach or fan, will remember Wednesday's Sectional semifinal for the rest of their lives

Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay died last week at the age of 67.

A little over a month after narrowly defeating Northridge 3-2 in conference play, the Warsaw girls tennis team faced off with the Lady Raiders again on Tuesday evening, this time in the IHSAA regional at NorthWood. As was the case the first time around, the matches were close and intense. The similarities didn’t end there, as the end result was the same: Warsaw picked up a 4-1 victory to advance to Wednesday’s regional final.

Anyone paying close attention to Warsaw boys’ track and field will agree the field events - specifically the shot put and discus, pole vault, long jump, and the high jump – have made significant contributions to Warsaw’s conference and sectional championships.

The second day of the girls tennis sectional at Warsaw featured just one match, but it certainly was a doozy. The host Lady Tigers and Tippecanoe Valley, both conference champions in the middle of great seasons, treated spectators to a fantastic match. At the end of five hard fought contests, it was Warsaw that earned the right to advance to Saturday’s championship with a 4-1 win.

An indicator each year that summer is just around the corner, girls tennis began sectional play on Thursday afternoon, with three local schools, including hosts Warsaw, beginning their postseason journeys.

Now ranked No. 5 in the state after Sunday’s Coaches Poll, the Warsaw girls basketball team looked to remain undefeated when hosting Fort Wayne Carroll at the Tiger Den Wednesday night. The Lady Tigers were able to score the ball at will, putting up a new program high for made threes in a game with 16 in 91-41 win to improve to 10-0.

Once conference opponents, the Manchester and Tippecanoe Valley boys basketball teams met in Akron Tuesday night for a nonconference affair. The Squires took the lead in the opening seconds and never surrendered it, staying in front the whole way for a 54-42 win.

A storybook season for Grace’s volleyball team penned a perfect final chapter on Saturday as the Lancers claimed the 2024 NCCAA national championship.

Grace’s men’s basketball team held Taylor to its second-lowest scoring output of the season during an 88-76 win on Saturday.

The Manchester boys basketball team hosted Wawasee Friday night in a cross-county matchup. The Squires started the game a tad slowly, but eventually got into a rhythm, going up double figures in the first half and remaining there the rest of the night for a 65-44 win.

Heading into her fourth and final year as a member of the Whitko track and field team, senior Gwen Howard already has a trophy cabinet full of accomplishments to her name.
