Democrats’ Dinner

Editor, Times-Union:
Fact 1 - Plain Township did not give Larry Kammerer 5 acres of farm ground, this farm ground is owned and still owned by Plain Township! It will eventually be part of the Leesburg Cemetery, it is being farmed for cash rent payable to the township.
Fact 2 - Cemetery care for Plain Township, here are facts going back several years:
2022 - Michael King-Monoquet $2,100.
Anderson Lawncare Leesburg/Oswego Cemeteries $27,852.
2023 - Michael King-Monoquet $1,750.
Anderson Lawncare - Leesburg/Oswego $23,930
2024 - Michael King-Monoquet $2,500.
Anderson Lawncare $22,850
2025 - Michael King $2,500.
Anderson Lawncare $34,065.
This is all done by per mowing. The cemeteries are respected and kept well maintained as much as possible!
Fact 3 - Townships don’t take care of the streets or roads in the township, town of Leesburg has the town, the county roads are county highway.
Fact 4 - Noftz is dedicated to education and teaching the community about what the Plain Township Board is and how it can help? The Plain Township Board responsibility is to review and adopt the annual financial report and budget presented by the township trustee. The township board sets the salaries for trustee, clerk and board. The township trustee negotiates all contracts, MOUs, policies and the board approves them.
Fact 5 - Reply to Decio. You can find a list of trustees and contact info at the courthouse, sheriff Dept. and county website. You can call 211 and get our information.
Fact 6 - Vicki Morton said lots of people don’t even know who’s running for town board, these three people Osbun, township board, there is a difference!
Fact 7 - Osbun says Plain needs a new township board that the current one isn’t doing their job by overseeing the trustee’s office and there needs to be transparency and oversight? Sir, the transparency is all on Gateway of IN, and oversight is approving the AFR and budget. Public township meetings are posted on the office door which is required by law.
Fact 8 - Plain Township Board Members are not allegedly taking financial advantage of their roles and for you to say that is slander. The cemetery maintenance was put up for bids and Anderson Lawncare was lowest bidder per mowing. Greg Anderson, Township Board member, has nothing in that business but he is related to them, he has nothing to gain from that contract, in fact Greg doesn’t even have to sign that contract and can abstain, it only takes two board members to sign it! Larry Kammerer was not given 5 acres of land either!
Fact 9 - The Democrats owe the current trustee and board members an apology publicly! Craig Charlton, trustee, Board members Robert Bishop, Larry Kammerer and Greg Anderson have worked really hard for the township over the past several years. Keeping the Fire Dept. up to date, weather sirens, township assistance for the ones that qualify and are in need, getting some much needed restoration work done at the Leesburg Cemetery that will take years to complete. Craig has done a great job since becoming trustee!
