Joy A. Brown, 84, Warsaw, passed away at 2:50 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 29, 2017, in her residence.  She was born March 26, 1933, in Syracuse, to Ned and Bertha A. Biltz Stuckman. A lifelong Kosciusko County resident, she moved from Syracuse to Warsaw in 1951 and was a 1951 graduate of Syracuse High School.

NORTH MANCHESTER — Royce J. Maynard, 34, Pierceton, died at 11:40 a.m. Oct. 27, 2017, in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne. He was born Dec. 26, 1982, in Columbia City, to Royce L. and Lena Maynard. His mother and stepfather, Lena and Roger West, survive, in Pierceton. His father is deceased.

Harriette J. Zimmer, 96, of Dunnellon, Fla., formerly of Warsaw, passed away Saturday, Oct. 21, 2017, in her son’s home.  She was born Feb. 27, 1921, to William and Thelma Reed Copeland in Hamlet. Harriette was united in marriage to Robert Zimmer on Dec. 24, 1938, in Atwood. He preceded her in death Sept. 19, 1975

Albert E. “Al” Geller, 78, Warsaw, formerly of Georgia, passed away Oct. 25, 2017, at Mason Health and Rehabilitation Center, Warsaw.  Al was born Sept. 27, 1939, in Morocco, to Edward and Freeda Story Geller. He married Debra Pine on Aug. 14, 1993; she survives.

Darrell A. Brookins, a longtime resident of Leesburg, passed away Monday, Oct. 23, 2017, in Fort Wayne’s Lutheran Hospital after a brief illness. He was 68 years old at the time of his death.

NEWBURYPORT, Mass. — Miriam A. Nowlin, Newburyport, Mass., formerly of Leesburg, died Oct. 21, 2017.   She was born Dec. 5, 1918, to Peter T. and Grace Klemos in Battle Creek, Mich. She was the beloved wife of Frank E. Nowlin, Battle Creek, who preceded her in death. 

ELWOOD — James M. “Mike” Hibst, 65, Bourbon, formerly of Elwood, passed away at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.  Mike was born Sept. 23, 1952, in Elwood, the son of Fred E. Hibst and Norma J. Breece Hibst. He attended St. Joseph School in Elwood until the eighth grade, then attended Elwood schools. Mike was baptized in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Elwood early in life. Lester Allen Phipps, 85, Warsaw, passed away at 8:12 p.m. Monday, Oct. 23, 2017, in Lutheran Hospital of Indiana, Fort Wayne. He was born Aug. 4, 1932, in Fresno, Calif., to Lester Edna and Lyda Josephine Williams Phipps. A United States Navy veteran, he faithfully served his country from 1951 to 1955 during the Korean conflict as a quartermaster seaman aboard the USS Chouree (ARV-1), Fleet Aircraft Squad Repair Ship 116. 

James Daniels, 93, Winona Lake, died at 7:39 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 22, 2017, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw. He was born Oct. 23, 1923, in Floyd County, Ky., to Sterling and Elizabeth Fannin Daniels. He was united in marriage to Gladys Hurd on June 5, 1991. She died in 2011.  Local survivors include a granddaughter, Chrissy Hollon, Winona Lake.  Private services are scheduled. NORTH MANCHESTER — Gladys E. Fingerle, 88, North Manchester, died at 4:15 a.m. Oct. 24, 2017, in her daughter’s home in Peru. She was born Oct. 7, 1929, in Wabash County, to Aaron D.  and Mabel F. Metzger Greer. She married Robert H. Fingerle on Sept. 19, 1948. He died June 17, 2007.

NORTH MANCHESTER — Johnny Ray Spriggs, 73, North Manchester, died at 3:16 p.m. Oct. 22, 2017, in Parkview Huntington Hospital, Huntington. He was born Sept. 22, 1944, in Logan County, W.Va., to Roosevelt and Grace M. Spears Spriggs. He was married to Patricia Carol Mercer on July 25, 1986. She survives.

Teodoro “Teo” Xique Santamaria, Warsaw, passed away at his residence surrounded by family at 11:15 a.m. Oct. 23, 2017, at the age of 22. He was born Nov. 9, 1994, in San Gregorio Zacapechpan, Puebla, Mexico, to Alberto Xique and Jaqueline Santamaria Tecaxco, who both survive in Warsaw.

Patrick DiRico, 47, formerly of Warsaw, passed away Friday, Oct. 20, 2017, in Clarksburg, Md. He was born Oct. 2, 1970, in Malden, Mass., to Italian immigrants (now U.S. citizens), Antonio and Giovanna DiRico.
