Patrick DiRico, 47, formerly of Warsaw, passed away Friday, Oct. 20, 2017, in Clarksburg, Md.

He was born Oct. 2, 1970, in Malden, Mass., to Italian immigrants (now U.S. citizens), Antonio and Giovanna DiRico.

When he was 8 years old, he and his family moved from Massachusetts to Warsaw, where he attended elementary, middle and high school. He graduated from Warsaw Community High School in 1988 and during his time there, he played baseball and even went to state with his team.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps starting in 1990 and during Operation Desert Storm. Throughout his service he went to Kuwait, Russia and the Dominican Republic, where he met his wife, Alejandra.

Throughout his life he always put family first and made sure that everyone in his life knew that he cared about them. He enjoyed playing baseball throughout his life and won the Garber award for being an outstanding player and for his commitment to playing here in Warsaw. He went to every football and baseball game his two boys were involved in and enjoyed traveling with them.

He spent as much time as he could with his two sons and wife. Even when he was diagnosed with cancer almost 10 years ago, that didn’t stop him from packing in as many memories and fun for his kids as he could. He wanted to make sure they would always have those memories to cherish of him.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Alejandra DiRico, and his two children, Nicholas DiRico and Daniel DiRico, all of Clarksburg. He is also remembered by his mother, Giovanna DiRico; father, Antonio DiRico; brothers Frank (Donna) DiRico, Fred (Sherri) DiRico and John (Elaine) DiRico; and sister Madeline (Roger) Burkholder, all of Warsaw. Furthermore, he is remembered by his nephews, Blake DiRico, Joey DiRico, Tony DiRico, Anthony Burkholder and Gabriel DiRico; and nieces, Callie (Andrew) Schwartz, Carissa DiRico, Gianna Burkholder and Sophia Burkholder.

There will be a memorial service in his honor at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia next year.
