Eileen Phebus, a lifetime resident of Kosciusko County, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 22, 2017, just before 7 p.m in Miller’s Merry Manor, Warsaw. She was 93 at the time of her passing.

Janet Aileen McCrystal, 91, passed away Sunday, Oct. 29, 2017, at Valley Hi Nursing Home, Woodstock, Ill.  She was born on July 28, 1926, in Sterling, Ill. Janet grew up in Sterling and graduated from Sterling High School. After high school, she attended and graduated from Swedish-American Hospital in Rockford, Ill. Janet worked at Caterpillar for the majority of her career as an  occupational health nurse. Janet Swartley married Donald McCrystal in 1950 in Rockford. After marrying, Janet and Donald moved to Aurora, Ill. They were happily married for 42 years.  Janet is survived by three of her four children: Patrick (Patricia) McCrystal, Janel (Don) Buchner and Teri (Scott) Lewis; along with seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Janet was preceded in death by her daughter, Diane McCrystal, and husband, Donald McCrystal. Don, Janet and their family were longtime summer residents at Tippecanoe Lake, and her daughter, son-in-law and grandsons and their families are still enjoying summers at the lake.  The family is planning a private funeral service and burial to follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Aurora.   ***** Memorials to Woodstock Hospice CareCenter, 527 W. Elena Lanae Moore, 2 months, Warsaw, died at 10:40 a.m. Oct. 30, 2017, in Warsaw.  She was born Aug. 17, 2017, to Steven Brown and Marrisa Moore in Fort Wayne. They survive. Survivors also include grandmothers Norma Lemaster and Liz Moore, both of Warsaw. Funeral services will be private, with Bob Jarboe officiating. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery’s Garden of Angels, Warsaw. Visitation will also be private. Mary Frances Noble, 88, of Warsaw, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2017, at 12:52 p.m. in her residence.  She was born December 14, 1928 in Claypool to Merl Royse and Blanche Irene (Harper) Engle.

David L. Stiver, 50, of Warsaw, died Thursday, Nov. 2, 2017, at 2:44 p.m. in Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. Arrangements are pending with McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw.  

Phillip L. “Phil” Abbett, 85, of Warsaw, died at 12:18 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 2, 2017, at his home. Arrangements are pending at Owen Family Funeral Home, St. Rd 13 & CR 500N, North Webster.

GOSHEN — Emma Jean Ernest, 86, Goshen, died at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2017, at her residence.  She was born Oct. 11, 1931, in Nappanee, to John Lewis and Elizabeth Snider Rensberger. On July 5, 1952, in Goshen, she married Dale Ernest; he died June 17, 2001.

AKRON — Patricia A. Deardorff, 86, rural Claypool and formerly of Akron, died at 3:15 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2017, at her son’s residence in rural Claypool.

ROCHESTER — Dixie Reed, 81, Rochester, died at 8:35 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2017, at her residence.

CLAYPOOL – Ronald L. “Ron” Ozier, 77, of Claypool, passed away at 6:10 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2017 at his residence. He was born Oct. 12, 1940, in Greenup, Ill., to Leo and Sylvia May (Carr) Ozier.

James H. Tuttle, 68, Rochester Hills, Mich., died Oct. 5, 2017, at his home after a battle with cancer.  James was born Dec. 15, 1948, in Warsaw, the son of Richard Gordon and Mary Naomi Studebaker Tuttle. He graduated from Pierceton High School in 1967. On June 12, 1971, he married his beloved wife, Virginia Baumgartner.

NORTH WEBSTER — Ronald K. “Red” Pearson, 79, Leesburg, passed away at 12:15 p.m. Oct. 29, 2017, at his residence.  He was born Oct. 24, 1938, in Warsaw, to Jasper L. and Mary Audeline Staples Pearson.

Betty J. Creviston, 91, Warsaw, died at 10:45 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 29, 2017, in Miller’s Merry Manor, Syracuse. Arrangements are pending at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw.  

SYRACUSE — John Allen Losee, 66, Darlington, Wis., formerly of Syracuse, passed away Sunday, Oct. 22, 2017, at his home in Darlington.  He was born March 12, 1951, in Warsaw, to James R. and Pauline O. Ringler Losee. He graduated in 1969 from Wawasee High School, Syracuse, and lived most of his life in the Syracuse area before moving to Darlington 2007. He worked in local trailer factories during his early years and was a bartender for his brother at Louie’s Bar & Grill, Syracuse, for many years. He formerly attended the Church of the Brethren, Syracuse. He loved to hunt and fish and was an avid mushroom hunter. He enjoyed watching all sports, especially football and baseball.  John was a social butterfly and could be found striking up a conversation with just about anyone at any of the local establishments. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends. He is survived by two sons, Mitch (Tamara) Losee, Warsaw, and Eric (Julie) Losee, Merrill, Wis.; six grandchildren: Kayla, Heather, Ryan, Josh, Hannah and Olivia; and three sisters: Rosemary “Peg” (Jerry) Method, Milford; Sharon Kaufman, Milford; and Janice “Jan” (George) Bowler, Milford. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Miriam Benson; and a brother, Richard Losee. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. SYRACUSE — Joseph V. “Joe” Richards, 70, Syracuse, passed away at noon Saturday, Oct. 28, 2017, at his residence.  He was born June 25, 1947, in Goshen, to Virgil Otis and Olivene May Ott Richards. He graduated in 1966 from Syracuse High School and was a lifetime Syracuse area resident. He was married on June 28, 1980, to Deborah A. “Deb” Holmes at Calvary United Methodist Church, Syracuse; she survives.  He was employed at Fairmont Homes, Nappanee, for 24 years and Royal Outdoor Products, Milford, for eight-plus years. He is survived by his wife, Deb Richards, Syracuse; a daughter, Taylor Richards, Syracuse; a son, Ben (Melissa) Richards, Haltom City, Texas; two granddaughters, Katie McKinney and Halle Richards; two brothers, Larry Richards, Syracuse, and Mark (Carol) Richards, Warsaw; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Dennis Richards. No public services are planned.  Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, Warsaw.
