Janet Aileen McCrystal, 91, passed away Sunday, Oct. 29, 2017, at Valley Hi Nursing Home, Woodstock, Ill.
She was born on July 28, 1926, in Sterling, Ill.
Janet grew up in Sterling and graduated from Sterling High School. After high school, she attended and graduated from Swedish-American Hospital in Rockford, Ill. Janet worked at Caterpillar for the majority of her career as an occupational health nurse.
Janet Swartley married Donald McCrystal in 1950 in Rockford. After marrying, Janet and Donald moved to Aurora, Ill. They were happily married for 42 years.
Janet is survived by three of her four children: Patrick (Patricia) McCrystal, Janel (Don) Buchner and Teri (Scott) Lewis; along with seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Janet was preceded in death by her daughter, Diane McCrystal, and husband, Donald McCrystal.
Don, Janet and their family were longtime summer residents at Tippecanoe Lake, and her daughter, son-in-law and grandsons and their families are still enjoying summers at the lake.
The family is planning a private funeral service and burial to follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Aurora.
