Letters To The Editor

Editor, Times-Union:As a former Warsaw resident, I enjoy reading the online edition of the Times-Union.

Editor, Times-Union:Stop the world. I want to get off.

Editor, Times-Union:After several telephone calls, I have finally found out that you are absolutely right -

Editor, Times-Union:2015 was a good year; but now in 2016 we must all beware, all norms will be challenged.

- Likes Waggoner - Candidates - Priorities - Barbee Sewers - Crooks Case - Gas Prices Likes Waggoner Editor, Times-Union: I had the opportunity to ride to Bloomington with Chuck Waggoner last fall. …

- Subdivision - Jackson Says Thanks - United Water - Zoning - Legion Responds - Kolbe Supported Subdivision Editor, Times-Union: Government officials wonder why the public doesn't get involved on issues.Well, one reason we can tell you from personal experience is because it is totally frustrating to have serious concerns and voice your opinions to only get a temporary pacification. Let us be more specific.Last fall we were notified of the request to have the neighboring 10 acres of land rezoned for the purpose of a housing addition.Twenty neighboring farmers and landowners showed up at the hearings to voice their concerns.

- School Proposals - Greatly Missed - 'Terrorist Hunter' - Angels On Sheridan Street - Intent Of Legislators - Project Of Liberty School Proposals Editor, Times-Union: In light of recent controversy over the decisions by the Warsaw Community School Board, here are a few ideas for reforming education at the local level. 1.The current school building plan approved by the school board on June 16 should be canceled. It adds more needless debt during a state budget/spending crisis. The property tax situation still needs to be resolved first; and this current plan downsizes small towns.

- Police Chases - Vanlaningham Scholarship - Senior ESP Police Chases Editor, Times-Union: After reading the article in Monday's paper about the police chase and subsequent crash, I thought it painfully ironic that it has been 10 years to the month that my son was killed in a similar police chase.Fortunately in Monday's accident, the unsuspecting residents only lost a house and the officer sustained only minor injuries. I am not condoning what the cyclist or my son did, fleeing police. But with all of the modern technology (computers, video cameras, etc.) that police departments have at their disposal, shouldn't they consider changing their chase procedures? I question if these chases are really necessary ...just food for thought.

- Sunday Days - Pierceton Parade - Lions Thanks - Spirit Day - No Left Turn Sunday Days Editor, Times Union: The days of Billy Sunday, oh how glorious they were! There was no sin, and all who dwelt in the land of Winona were holy.To revert back to those glorious days, here are some suggestions, directly from the deed to our house. The following will not be permitted: 1.The possession, sale, gift or use of alcoholic drinks. 2.The sale or use of cigarettes, tobacco or narcotics in any form. 3.The use of any licentious, obscene, profane or slanderous words, spoken, written or otherwise, to the sight, hearing and senses by one person to another.

- Meaning Of Christmas - What's In A Name - Election Ironies - Thanks To Highway Dept.

Editor, Times-Union:Some people have written in expressing their disapproval of HB1468. But from what I read, they have false information.

Editor, Times-Union:I run a free pet site on Facebook to help our overloaded shelters, and rescue workers, to give people another avenue to use instead of dropping their animals off at the shelters to be adopted out or euthanized. We have 10,825 members as of right now.

Editor, Times-Union:Suppose that every day, 10 men go out for beer and the bill for all 10 comes to $100.

Editor, Times-Union:Veterans Day is approaching and  many of the stores are having a “Veterans Day sale.” Come on in and spend your money with them.

Editor, Times-Union:Now that we have had time to get fired up about Dr. Goksel, let’s show him. Let’s show him how we feel and have total appreciation of his knowledge.

Editor, Times-Union:Many, including me, want something done about the messed-up state of our current government on the federal, state and local level. Each has their faults.

Editor, Times-Union: Warsaw is earning a reputation as the city of confusing and poorly designed intersections and traffic flow. Traffic engineers continue to design solutions to traffic flow that is worse than if left alone.

Editor, Times-Union:I’m writing this letter because of the senseless death of one of our protectors in Kokomo.

Editor, Times-Union:If it walks like a duck, looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, it must be a duck.

Editor, Times-Union:At a recent Bible study Richard suggested 80 percent of American Christians no longer attend church.

Editor, Times-Union:At last resort traffic was being counted on CR 100E, two major roads leading to CR 100E were closed due to fixing the railroad tracks, only during that time were the counters used.

Editor, Times-Union:If you are going to write about Israel, study the Bible, especially Psalm 83.

Editor, Times-Union: On my way to Fort Wayne tonight (Thursday, March 15) I noticed a full-size pickup truck changing lanes, trying very hard to get around traffic on U.S. 30 around 6:50 p.m.

Editor, Times-Union:I’ve watched with interest (from afar) the political campaign for District 22. Recently, a couple of persons have endorsed David Kolbe, because of his apparent good “judgment.”
