If you are going to write about Israel, study the Bible, especially Psalm 83. Better yet, do as I did: Hop on a plane and go to Israel, check into a hotel in Jerusalem and spend some time touring the country.
I found Jews, Muslims, Christian Arabs all interesting to talk to.
There are well over a million Arab citizens of Israel; most of them are Muslims, six of them serve in parliament. They have all the rights Jews do. Israel welcomes everybody into their country. The Arab nations surrounding Israel will not let their Arab brothers, who call themselves Palestinians, into their country because of the world propaganda value.
The U.N. (united nothing) has passed over 1,000 resolutions against Israel - none against the various terrorist groups. Firing 6,000 rockets into Israel provoked no response, but when Israel retaliated the U.N. demanded an immediate cease fire. There is no warning of missile attacks on civilians; I experienced this in England with the U.S. Army.
Israel is a country of 6 million people and only half the size of California's largest county. The Arab countries surrounding it have more than 200 million people and a land mass the size of the United States.
As a British mandate in 1919, this land was declared uninhabitable. Mark Twain and Will Rogers declared it the most desolate place on earth.
The Bible says when the Jews return, it will bloom as a rose. It now raises everything and exports food for 30 million people.
Israel has always been outnumbered 50 or 100 to one, but they prevail. I talked to men who fought in the wars and they can't explain their victory. Counting casualties on sides is silly. Wars are not won tit for tat. If you are going to lob missiles into a country, be prepared for consequences. Germany and Japan declared war on the U.S. and their casualties were many times ours. We had no civilian casualties - they had millions.
Most Americans apparently get their news from CNN. In Israel they call it "Certainly No News." The Palestinian areas are perfectly peaceful until the CNN TV crews show up. They pay children to throw stones and the women to shake their fists. A woman with us questioned about the truth. They said, "We never telecast the truth, that doesn't make news." CNN, the most trusted name in news? The Muslims laugh about it.
Go there, spend some time in the old walled city, talk to the different groups. Visit the citrus groves, pineapple plantations, cotton fields. Everyone serves in the military. Arabs are not required to serve, but some do.
