– GeNelle Ruth Smoker, 75, Rochester, died at 7:14 a.m. Sept. 29, 2016, at her residence.  She was born Dec. 25, 1940, in Kewanna, to Arnold L. and Ione Reed Zellers.

 Nancy Sue Peugh, 74, Winona Lake, died Sept. 28, 2016, at Lutheran Hospital of Fort Wayne.  She was born June 17, 1942, in Akron, Ohio, to Delbert and LaVerna Ellen Davis Orndorf. On June 5, 1965, she was married to Roger Dennis Peugh, who survives. 

Vanoma I. “Judy” McFadden, 85, rural Claypool, died at 3:30 p.m. Sept. 28, 2016, at Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw. She was born Aug. 27, 1931, in Howell, Mich., to Jc and Nellie Kaiser Sprague. On Nov. 10, 1951, in Millville, Mich., she married Dr. Orville L. McFadden, who survives.

Randy E. England, 59, South Whitley, passed away at 9:24 p.m. Sept. 26, 2016, in his residence.   He was born Dec. 27, 1956, in Warsaw, to Orville Eugene and Bonnie Lou Shoemaker England. On Oct. 25, 1974, in Packerton, he married Sarah Compton , who survives in South Whitley. They were married 41 years.

Ardith L. Adams, 78, Rochester, died at 12:17 p.m. Sept. 28, 2016, at the Center for Hospice Care. 

Roberta M. Runkel, 89, North Manchester, died at 3:10 a.m. Sept. 27, 2016, at Timbercrest Senior Living Community, North Manchester. She was born May 8, 1927, in Kosciusko County, to Orville and Bertha Parker Correll. On Sept. 14, 1947, she married Rex Runkel, who died Dec. 9, 2004.

 Robert “Bob” Miller, 59, Syracuse, left us to be with the Lord at 5:35 p.m. Sept. 24, 2016. He passed away at his residence surrounded by his loving family after a hard and courageous battle with cancer. He had suffered with pain due to health issues the last several years of his life and can now rest in peace.

BOURBON ­– Jay F. Bates, 83, Bourbon, passed away Sept. 27, 2016, at home with his family by his side. He was born April 27, 1933, in Plymouth, the son of Harry W. and Olive H. Ecker Bates. He married Sue Ann Haenes of Bremen, eloping on Valentine’s Day 1969 to Watseka, Ill. 

ROCHESTER – Jack Edward Conaway, 70, formerly of Rochester, died Sept. 25, 2016, at Emory Hospital Systems of Atlanta. He was born June 12, 1946, in Michigan City, to Joseph E. and Dorothy P. Butts Conaway.

Jacqueline O. Walter, 96, Warsaw, died at 5:35 p.m. Sept. 27, 2016, at Miller’s Merry Manor, Warsaw.

 Troy A. Conley, 48, died at 4:40 a.m. Sept. 26, 2016, at his home in Akron. He was born Sept. 5, 1968, in Rochester, to Wade and Maxine Jackson Conley. On March 25, 1999, he married Jane A. Kruger, who surviv

Delbert Arlan Beery, 69, North Manchester, died at 11:17 a.m. Sept. 24, 2016, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.  He was born May 12, 1947, in Wabash County, the son of Glen A. and Maurine Brower Beery. His wife of 16 years, Connie Berry, survives. He was a U.S. Army veteran.

SYRACUSE – Patricia G. “Pat” Stewart, 76, of Syracuse, passed away at 2:52 p.m. Sept. 24, 2016, at I.U. Goshen Hospital.  She was born on March 6, 1940, in Indianapolis, to Elmer and Louise Gaskins Gebhardt. On Jan. 1, 1960, in Indianapolis, she married Donald E. “Don” Stewart, who survives. 

Violet L. Yoars, 97, Warsaw, passed away at 2:45 a.m. Sept. 26, 2016, at Miller’s Merry Manor, Warsaw.  She was born Oct. 19, 1918, in Huntington County, to Charles and Mary Ellen Dean Cline. On May 3, 1936, she married C. Kenneth Rice, who passed away on April 1, 1982. On May 12, 1984, she married Carl Yoars, who passed away June 2, 2002.  She was a graduate of Union Center High School, Huntington County. In the early 1950s she and her first husband, C. Kenneth Rice, owned and operated the Quick Clean Laundry in Warsaw. She also worked for several years doing clerical work at Dr. Baum’s office in Warsaw.  She was a member of First Christian Church of Warsaw, where she was very active in the Warsaw Eastern Star,  loved to play euchre and was a longtime member of Winona Literary Club in Winona Lake. 

 Lamora L. Filson, 90, Plymouth, passed away Sept. 23, 2016, in the Pilgrim Manor Nursing Home. She was born Sept. 13, 1926, in Plymouth, to Emerson and Ada Senff Seymour. On Sept. 22, 1946, she became the bride of Clyde “Lowell” Filson, who preceded her in death.

Dale Dodier, 55, Warsaw, passed away after a lengthy illness at 9:55 p.m. Sept. 22, 2016, at Lutheran Hospital of Fort Wayne.  He was born on Nov. 15, 1960, in San Gabriel, Calif., to Frank A. Fisher and Lois LaMarche Dodier.   

Ann Skaggs-Percey, 71, Albion, passed away on Sept. 23, 2016, at Northridge Village, Albion.  She was born Oct. 13, 1944, in Arkansas, to Walt and Dorothy Tompkins.   She lived in the Albion area the last 12 years, coming from Cromwell.  She is survived by three sons: Joe (and spouse Valerie) Skaggs, Cromwell; David Skaggs, Wawaka; and Kenny (and spouse Rachel) Skaggs, Rome City; two daughters,  Lori (and spouse Jeff) Lash, LaGrange, and Karen Williams, Warsaw; 18 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Barbara Tompkins. She was preceded by two brothers and a granddaughter.   Services will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Eastlund Funeral Home, with calling two hours prior.

Martha L. Murray, 90, Rochester, died at 11:17 a.m. Sept. 23, 2016, at Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.  She was born May 23, 1926, in Glen Ellyn, Ill., to William Gladstone and Dollie Ruth Hicken Wheatley. On Aug. 30, 1947, in Leiters Ford, she married Arnold Murray, who died Oct. 7, 2006.

Jack Nelson Powell, 87, Warsaw, passed away Sept. 22, 2016, at his home. He was born Dec. 9, 1928, in Clunette, to Graydon and Mildred Miller Powell. On April 18, 1948, in Atwood, he married Virginia May Smith, who preceded him in death in 2014. They had been married 66 years.
