The team of Gary Himes, Larry Speigle and Warsaw fireman Terry Himes won the annual police golf outing at Southshore Golf Course. Members of county police departments, fire departments, EMS units and their guests play a best ball scramble each year. The winning score was four under par.
BLOOMINGTON - Seventy-five students in the Indiana University School of Business have been elected for membership in Beta Gamma Sigma, national honor society in business.
Receiving awards as outstanding Warsaw High School athletes at the banquet by the Rotary, Kiwanis and Lions clubs are: Merrill Miller, a senior guard on the football team, was recipient of the Fisher award, presented each year by State Rep. George Fisher, former head coach at Warsaw; Truman Lipply, a distance runner, received the cross country award; John Berry, a fine quarter-miler, the track award; Herb Pugmire, who played guard and tackle, for his performance in football; Chuck Yeager, center-forward, for basketball; and Jim Sumpter, a '56 graduate, the baseball award for his fine performance in the infield and on the pitcher's mound.
Twenty ladies of the United Brethren Church and four guests enjoyed a thimble party at the home of Mrs. Frank Yenner on East Center Street. An interesting Bible lesson was presented by Mrs. L.O. Oyler. Two contests were held with prizes being won by Mrs. Harvey Kinch and Mrs. Frank Patton.
