NORTH WEBSTER – Steven C. “Steve” VanCuren, 61, Leesburg, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2017, at his home.   Arrangements are pending at Owen Family Funeral Home, North Webster. 

AKRON — William “Bill” L. Johnson, 70, rural Claypool, died at 2:15 p.m. Friday, Aug. 18, 2017, near Claypool in an automobile accident. He was born March 26, 1947, in Kosciusko County, to Leroy Jud and Rose E. Miller Johnson. On March 23, 1968, in Columbus, he married Carolyn Pletcher; she survives. Bill was a lab technician at

Dennis Miller, 67, Milford, passed away at 12:17 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, 2017, in his residence.  He was born July 23, 1950, in Kosciusko County, to Kenneth and Mary Louise Pinkerton Miller. On April 15, 1992, in Las Vegas, Nev., he was united in marriage to Linda R. VanSant. 

NORTH WEBSTER — Albert James “Buggs” Rider Jr., 86, North Webster, passed away at 7:34 a.m. Monday, Aug. 21, 2017, at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana, Fort Wayne.  Arrangements are pending at Owen Family Funeral Home, Ind. 13 and CR 500N, North Webster.

ROCHESTER — Betty Steininger, 82, Rochester, passed away at 1:59 a.m. Aug. 22, 2017, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne.   Arrangements are pending at Good Family Funeral Home, Rochester.  

Brian D. Winters, 76, Warsaw, passed away at 2:39 p.m. Monday, Aug. 21, 2017, in his residence. Arrangements are pending at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw.

Bonita D. Cervantes, 66, Syracuse, formerly of Wabash, passed away at 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 20, 2017, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne.  She was born March 21, 1951, in Wabash, to Agnes Sleighter and Dale Brown. On March 13, 1979, she was married to Abel Cervantes, who survives.   Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw.  Her funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Wawasee Community Bible Church, 2035 E. 1300 N, Milford. WABASH — Chad Everett Dailey, 46, Wabash, died at 9:46 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, 2017, at Marion General Hospital.  He was born April 16, 1971, in Franklin, to Larry and Janet Traver Dailey. Chad was a 1990 graduate of Southwood High School. He married Anna DeLaCruz in Lagro on Oct. 26, 2013.  He worked at Real Alloy, Wabash, the past three years. Chad was a member of the Wabash Sons of the American Legion and the Moonshine Cowboys Riding Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and most of all riding his motorcycle. 

Juanita F. Boggs, 95, Leesburg, went home to the Lord on Saturday, Aug. 19, 2017.  She was born June 18, 1922, to Orrin and Daisy Meredith Tucker in Franklin Township, Kosciusko County.  She graduated from Beaver Dam High School, and married Donald J. Boggs on July 20, 1940. Most of their 59 years together were spent in Leesburg, where they farmed, raised their family and were active in the community.

ROCHESTER — Ramona M. Crispen,  79, Macy, passed away at 2:25 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, 2017, at her home.  She was born Aug. 28, 1937, in LaCrosse, Wis., to William and Ruby Burns Phillips. On April 19, 1956, in LaCrosse, she married Fredrick Dean Crispen. He died in 2004. Local survivors include two sons, Steven Crispen, Rochester, and Rodney Crispen, Akron. A celebration of life service will be at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W. 18th St., Rochester. Pamela Horn, 64, North Manchester, passed away at 6:20 p.m. Friday, Aug. 18, 2017, in Parkview Whitley Hospital, Columbia City.  She was born Feb. 7, 1953, in Warsaw, to Basil and EvaJean Shepherd Horn. On Feb. 9, 1974, in Wise, Va., she was united in marriage to Donald Lee Horn. 

Nancy Leverenz, 81, Warsaw, passed away at 1:52 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, 2017, in Miller's Merry Manor, Columbia City.  She was born July 27, 1936, in Sheboygan, Wis., to Alfred and Elvira Boenish Bohrmueller.  Nancy was united in marriage to Keith Leverenz in Sheboygan on April 27, 1957; he preceded her Jan. 4, 2013.  A homemaker and a devoted, caring mother, she was a Warsaw resident since 1968.

HOLLAND, Mich. — William M. Patterson, 88, Holland, passed away Friday, Aug. 18, 2017. Bill was born in Warsaw on June 6, 1929, to William and Della Patterson.  Bill graduated from Warsaw High School with eight athletic letters and was a two-time Indiana high school all-state basketball player. He had the opportunity to play basketball at Purdue University and practiced with the Fort Wayne Pistons before they moved the professional basketball team to Detroit. Instead of following a path using his basketball talents, Bill opened the first drive-in restaurant in Indiana at the age of 18. He later sold the drive-in and joined the U.S. Air Force.  In 1949, he married the love of his life, Marilyn Shidler. Bill and Marilyn moved to Holland and raised their family. Bill opened Patt’s Paper Specialties in 1962; it later became Shoreline Container. Bill enjoyed his work at Shoreline and retired in 1990.  In retirement, Bill drove the Roger Penske motor coach for Roger and the Penske race team from 1990-2002. Bill and Marilyn enjoyed their retirement winters in Fort Myers from 1990-2006.  Bill was a longtime member of the Holland Elks Lodge  and was past president of the Pioneer Club.  He was preceded in death by a son, Brian, and his wife of 62 years, Marilyn, in 2012. He is survived by his children, Brad (Donna) Patterson, Holland, and Brent (Amanda) Patterson, Holland; grandchildren: Tyler, Kyle and Spencer; in-laws, Ed and Marlene Schidler, Holland; and their four children. A private funeral service will be held. Interment will be in Pilgrim Home Cemetery.  Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home, Holland, assisted with arrangements. ***** Memorials to Hospice of Holland.

James F. Martin passed away at 11:15 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 13, 2017, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. He was 57 years old.  He was born Jan. 22, 1960, in Marion, to James N. and Mary Lou Walker Martin.

MENTONE — Alexzander Charles Long went home to be with the Lord at 8:50 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2017, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, shortly after his birth. His parents, Bradley and Hillary Long, survive in Milford.

MILFORD — Kathleen “Katie” Mae Shively, 95, Leesburg, died in her home on Monday, Aug. 14.  She was born Jan. 6, 1922, in Leesburg, to Lester and Emmel Dye. On May 2, 1943, she married Max Eldon Shively, who died July 17, 2005; they were married 62 years.
