NORTH WEBSTER – Phyllis M. Engel, 89, North Webster, passed away on Oct. 1, 2017, at Kosciusko Community Hospital. She was born Aug. 3, 1928, in Schererville to Russell and Ethel Lain Engel.

Verda Mae Boyer Miles, 84, Port Saint Lucie, Fla., died Sept. 11, 2017, at the Lawnwood Regional Medical Center, Fort Pierce, Fla. She was born Aug. 30, 1933, in Packerton, to William H. and Rose L. Shand Boyer. 

Pauline May Otto, 97, formerly of Nappanee, passed away at Greencroft Gables, Goshen, at 5:15 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 1, 2017. She was born March 24, 1920, in Midland, Mich., to John K. and Martha Miller. On Oct. 15, 1938, she married Andrew Otto at North Main Street 

AKRON – E. Joan Bucher, 77, Akron, and formerly of Rock Lake, died unexpectedly at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 1, 2017, at her residence. She was born Sept. 18, 1940, in Fulton County, the daughter of  Earl D. and June A. Smith Floor.

Loretta L. Thomas, 79, Warsaw, died at 10:05 p.m. Monday, Sept. 25, 2017, at Mason Health and Rehabilitation Center, Warsaw. She was born June 21, 1938, in Tidioute, Pa., to Leona Toner and Philip Hunt. On Jan. 5, 1965, she was married to Jimmie B. Thomas, who survives. 

Edmond R. “Ed” Proietti, 93, Warsaw, passed away at 12:10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2017, at his residence.  He was born July 24, 1924, in Mount Kisco, N.Y., to John and Natalie Salvati Proietti. 

MILFORD — William “Bill” C. Helms, 68, Larwill, passed away at home Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2017.  He was born Oct. 15, 1948, the son of Elbert and Betty Huftine Helms in South Bend. Bill married Linda Simcox in 1970. They were married 33 years and had two sons, Gabriel Helms and Gage Robert Helms, both of Larwill.

RUSSIAVILLE – Larry L. Krise, 79, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Sept. 24, 2017, at his home in Clarksville after a long illness.  He was born in Tipton County to Davie E. and Leora Ethel Carson Krise on Feb. 2, 1938. He was married to Terrie Hazeltin Krise. 

BOURBON — Lester G. Sellers, 79, Bourbon, passed away Sept. 22, 2017, at home as a result of a fatal farm accident. Lester was born the son of Henry Ward and Dorothy Hall Sellers, Dec. 26, 1937, in Marshall County. He was a lifelong resident of Bourbon. 

AKRON — James L. Sriver, 82, Akron, passed away at his home on Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2017. Born on June 10, 1935, in Wabash County, he was the son of Estil and Anna Sriver.
