AKRON – E. Joan Bucher, 77, Akron, and formerly of Rock Lake, died unexpectedly at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 1, 2017, at her residence.
She was born Sept. 18, 1940, in Fulton County, the daughter of Earl D. and June A. Smith Floor.
On Sept. 23, 1958, in the Disko United Methodist Church, she married James Lee Bucher Sr., who survives.
She worked at Controls in North Manchester and retired in 2005 after over 40 years with the company.
She attended Akron High School. Joan enjoyed camping, especially at Jellystone in Pierceton, reading, bird watching, and spending time with her family. She was an Elvis fan and liked to travel with her husband on car trips.
Survivors include her husband, Jim Bucher, Akron; two daughters, Joy L. and husband Robert L. McDonough, Rock Lake, and Amy Bucher, Akron; three sons: Jerry Bucher and fiancée Linda Carroll, Oswego; Jeff and wife Marilyn Bucher, Akron; and Jim Jr. and wife Mary Bucher, North Manchester; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Sharon Floor, Akron; two brothers, Larry and wife Ann Floor, Akron, and Michael and wife Claudette Floor, Carmel.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Deloris Thompson and Karen French.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 6 at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron. Pastor Frank Whitaker will officiate. Burial will be at Silver Creek Cemetery, Silver Lake.
Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 5 at the funeral home.
