PERU — The Whitko boys golf team posted two Three Rivers Conference wins at Peru Municipal Golf Course Wednesday against Rochester and North Miami. Whitko finished the meet with a 166, followed by Rochester’s 194 and North Miami’s 197. On the par-37 course, Whitko’s Donovan Klein led the field by shooting par, while teammate Daniel Zawlocki shot a 39. Whitko’s other scores were Colton LeTourneau’s 44, Josh Busenbark’s 46, Tyler Wine’s 46 and Matt Stewart’s 48. The 5-1 Whitko Wildcats travel to South Shore Golf Club in Syracuse today to take on Wawasee and Manchester.

Playing a Northern State Conference game at Jimtown Wednesday, the Triton softball team returned home with a 4-0 loss. In defeat, Triton recorded eight hits, with Hannah Downing and Shelby Steinman each hitting doubles. The loss drops Triton to 6-8 overall and 1-3 in the NSC going into tonight’s conference game at LaVille.

GIRLS TENNIS Wednesday in Plymouth
In Northern Lakes Conference competition, the Warsaw girls tennis team fell 3-2 Wednesday in Plymouth. Taking on the Plymouth Lady Pilgrims, Warsaw did get individual wins from Alli Tucker (No. 1 singles) and Sarah Hartle (No. 2 singles). The loss drops Warsaw to 4-2 overall and 2-1 in the NLC. The Lady Tigers get a chance to improve that record today when they travel to Wawasee for another conference match.
Winning two matches in three sets, the Tippecanoe Valley girls tennis team posted a 3-2 win at John Glenn Wednesday. Valley’s Kendra Roberts won 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 at No. 2 singles, while the No. 2 doubles team of Alexis Swihart and Mayra Jurado were 6-1, 5-7, 6-2 victors. Valley’s other win came from Staci Groom at No. 3 singles. The 2-4 Tippecanoe Lady Vikings will take part in the Three Rivers Conference match Saturday at Wabash.

The Whitko girls tennis team got its first win of the season Wednesday at home against Fort Wayne Northrop. Getting a 5-0 win, Whitko got wins from all three of its singles players, including Nicole Slaymaker (No. 1), Abby Marshall (No. 2) and Heather Collins (No. 3). On the doubles courts, Whitko’s No. 1 tandem of Jenna Kahn and Kate Hippensteel won as did the No. 2 doubles team of Aressa Tackwell and Laura Hippensteel. The 1-2 Whitko Lady Wildcats host a Three Rivers Conference match against Wabash today at 4:30 p.m.
