Posted
AKRON - The Tippecanoe Valley School Corp., in cooperation with the Kosciusko County and Fulton County health departments, will host inoculation sites for administering the H1N1 flu vaccine at Mentone and Akron elementary schools Oct. 22 from 2 to 5 p.m.

The following priority groups may participate: pregnant women, children 6 years old and under along with their caregivers, children ages 6 to 24; individuals with chronic debilitating diseases, health care workers and first responders.

Children and adults within the priority groups may receive the vaccine at either inoculation site. Consent forms will be available at both locations and must be completed prior to the administration of the vaccine. School nurses and health care providers from the health departments will be working together to administer the vaccine.

If the H1N1 vaccine has not been received by the health departments in time for the Oct. 22 vaccinations, a new date will be selected.

A parent-teacher conference day in the Tippecanoe Valley School Corp. also is scheduled for Oct. 22. School will not be in session.

Questions may be directed to any Tippecanoe Valley school nurse or Head School Nurse Debbie Potter at 574-353-7031 or 574-353-7353.
