    Dixie D. Pryor was recently elected vice president-elect of the Indiana State Reading Association, an affiliate of the International Reading Association.

Pryor is a kindergarten teacher at North Webster School.

    Marine Lance Corporal Garrell D. Jones Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Garrell D. Jones, Akron, has been promoted to his present rank while serving at Marine Corps Base, Twentynine Palms, Calif.

A 1976 graduate of Tippecanoe Valley High School, he joined the Marine Corps in May 1973.

    Dick Heeter, North Webster, and Doe Brewer, Huntington, shared honors Saturday night at the Warsaw Speedway. Heeter set a new track record of 18.94 seconds in his qualifying round, while Brewer won his first feature race.

    Raymond Zimmerman, Warsaw young man, has purchased an airplane, a standard model ship, equipped with a Curtis O.X. 90-horsepower motor, and will fly it to his private landing field on the Zimmer farm, one mile east of Warsaw, within a few days. Zimmer purchased the ship at Schoen Field, Fort Wayne, where he has been taking training for his pilot's license.
