    Former Warsaw resident Walter Horin Jr. was recently seen on national television. The West Point cadet coincidentally happened to be in the background as Gen. Norman Schwartzkopf was interviews by Barbara Walters for a segment broadcast last week on the ABC news program, 20/20.

Horin, a junior at the military academy, said he was able to shake hands with Schwartzkopf afterward.

    Dennis A. Shively, Rt. 1, Leesburg, is one of the 874 recipients of regents external degrees that were conferred by the Board of Regents of the University of the State of New York on Sept. 29. The degrees awarded include associate and baccalaureate degrees in the arts and sciences and professional degrees in nursing and business.

    Dr. Eugene F. Yoder, Syracuse, and formerly of Warsaw, was elected president of the Kosciusko County Dental Society at a meeting Wednesday evening at Ligonier. Dr. Dean VanOsdol and Dr. C.R. Wagner, of Warsaw, were elected vice president and secretary-treasurer, respectively.

    Thames Mauzy, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Mauzy, Warsaw, student at Anthony Wayne institute, Fort Wayne, has been elected vice-president of his class and president of the Alpha Gama Upsilon fraternity.
