    Kristina L. Crane has been selected as a state finalist in the Miss American Pre-Teen Pageant.

Crane will be signing and singing "We Will Carry the Torch" for the talent portion of the contest. Crane is the daughter of Bill and Sherry Crane of Pierceton, and attends Pierceton Elementary School.

    Dennis Tucker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Tucker, was chosen king of the Warsaw Freshman High School class during the annual ceremony held in the school gymnasium. Franky Butler, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Butler, was selected to reign as queen. Runners-up are Joe Nelson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Nelson, and Marsha Hoskins, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Hoskins.

    Tom Ferverda, a sophomore, won five events as Leesburg defeated North Manchester in a freshman-sophomore track meet.

Ferverda won the shop put, pole vault, 880-yard run, 220-yard dash and high jump. Other Leesburg firsts were by Tom Edgar in the mile run and Dick Goshorn in the 440-yard run.

    Valda Eichholtz was initiated into the English honorary Theta Chi Gamma and elected to the Senior SLS this week. SLS is the highest honorary society for girls at Purdue University. This is the fourth honor society to which Eichholtz has been chosen; the other two are Kappa Delta Pi, the education honor, and Omnicron Nu, the home economics honor society.
