    A pair of renowned athletic figures, Ara Parseghian, former Notre Dame football coach, and L.N. "Pete" Thorn, a longtime coacch at Warsaw High School and a member of both the Indiana football and basketball halls of fame, were introduced at Creighton Brothers-Lake City Bank egg breakfast.

    Gerald McHatton of Warsaw, first vice president of the Airstream Fort Wayne unit, welcomed officials of the Region 5 club to Warsaw. One hundred six trailers poured into the Kosciusko County Fairgrounds for the 10th annual spring rally.


50 Years Ago
May 23 1947

    Police received a complaint from a motorist that the railroad gates were down at the Washington and Lake street crossings. Police investigated and found the tower watchman in deep slumber. Light from car's searchlight and whistle failed to arouse him, so police went up the ladder and brought him up by letting loose with a sharp yell. He said that he wasn't asleep, but the gates had been down for about one hour and 15 minutes.

May 23 1922

    Three cars of cinders purchased from the Pennsylvania Railroad will be used to build paths through the city park. Landscape gardener Shinn today completed his work there of installing shrubbery, flowers, etc.
