Considerable excitement was caused around midnight when a group of "Warsaw cowboys" reported to be Perry Easterday, Robert Breading, Loren Melick, Raymond Essig, Everett Anglin and "Buster" Leady, tried to take a sleepy stray into the city "flop house" at the Central fire station.

According to Link Hay, chief clerk, and House Detective Mud Moon, bossy was found strolling along the alley at the rear of the Breading Cigar store. Patrons of the place, which was just closing, thought it best to get the cow into a home so the "cowboys" cornered her and Easterday bulldogged the cow, as is done in the movies. On arriving at the fire house to inform the police it was found that night, officers E.S. Beebe and J.H. Pittenger were absent on patrol, so the good samaritans decided to have bossy enter the fire department en route to the "flop house." This the cow refused to do. About that time Officers Beebe and Pittenger arrived and took the cow home. The cow walked behind the police car, led by a rope.
