    Jefferson student Jon Lawlor, a fourth-grader, designed a poster with the theme of recycling, and it's getting some attention. The poster was chosen to be displayed at the Children's Museum of Art at Indianapolis during the month of June. Jon is the son of David and Sally Lawlor, Winona Lake.

June 7 1975

    Edward Hoffman, Rt. 2, Claypool, was recently confined to Murphy Medical Center and was unable to plant his crops himself. Friends and neighbors recently donated their time and energy and plowed, disced and planted his fields.

Those helping were Max Shull, Gerald Shull, Darrin Setser, Howard Alexander, Myrl Alexander, Ortie Manns, Ronnie Manns, Clarence Snook, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Manns, Art Kinsey, Roger Rolland and Paul Smith. Max Deaton furnished equipment.

    Robert Walton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Dalton, of South Maple Avenue, who graduated last week from Manchester College, is going next Saturday to a boy's camp in the Ozarks where he will act as counselor most of the summer.

June 7 1925

    Street Commissioner Sidney Aker and his assistants removed brick at two points in the city where pavements were about to "blow up" because of the intense heat during the recent torrid wave.

At the end of the new concrete pavement on Tamarack Street, at Fort Wayne Street, brick had been forced up to the extent of six inches. One of the rows of brick was removed today, eliminating the danger of further damage.
