    Retiring North Webster Police Department dispatcher Mary Koontz, one of four full-time dispatchers, was honored Friday with a farewell party. She served the department for 14 years. Koontz now plans to travel and spend more time with her grandchildren.

    Fire heavily damaged an east side automobile dealership and destroyed seven vehicles Tuesday night.

City firemen were summoned to Smith Ford-Lincoln-Mercury Inc., 527 E. Winona Ave., Warsaw, at 6 p.m.

    Carol Jo Baumgartner has been named valedictorian of the 1953 graduating class of Nappanee High School. Carol Jo, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Baumgartner, Warsaw, had a grade average of 98.0. She is the editor of the Napanet, a member of the student council, D'Bulldog, National Honor Society and the school band. Carol Jo plans to enter Purdue next fall.

    Mr. and Mrs. Merl Hodges, Warsaw, and Mr. and Mrs. Grant Willis, Leesburg, will represent the Warsaw Rotary Club at the national convention at Minneapolis next week. The Hodges will be joined by Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Hodges, Logansport, and spend some time on a fishing trip at northern lakes.
