    Five local swimmers will be participating in the YMCA Swimming Nationals at Cincinnati, Ohio. Participating will be Nate Koehlinger, Shane Diffendarfer, Craig Briner, Tylor Nichols and Brady Nichols. Overall the five will be participating in 28 individual events and five different relays.

    Showing at the Warsaw Drive-In Theatre tonight are two big hits: "The Godfather," winner of three Academy Awards, and "Love Story," starring Ali MacGraw and Ryan O'Neal.

August 8 1948

    Anita Garman, Claypool, won first place in the senior division of the county 4-H club dress revue, held in the basement of the Methodist Church, and will represent the county in the state revue.

Elaine Dunnuck, of near Etna Green, a member of the Mentone 4-H club, won first place in the junior division of the revue, and Jane Ann Warner, of Monroe Township, won the apron division.

    Newton Howe, Winona Lake, is the inventor of a remarkable patent auto accessory which indicates by electric flashes, oil viscosity and pressure, water temperature and amount and gasoline gauge from one single instrument on the dash of an auto. He has sold his patent rights to a Chicago factory and hopes to have the plant established in the Warsaw vicinity to put the invention into production.
