    Baker Youth Clubs "Boy of the Year" is Barry Hartman, and "Girl of the Year" is Rachelle Lozier. They were chosen from more than 2,500 members based on their attitude and enthusiasm. Each received a certificate and check from Warsaw Breakfast Optimist Club.

August 3 1980

    Joe Beeson, Warsaw Racquet Club professional, won the Beloit (Wis.) Senior Men's Open tennis tournament last weekend. Beeson defeated highly-regarded Don Bought of Neenah, Wis., 6-4,6-1 in the finals.

August 3 1955

    Four area residents are among 45 officers and advisors of the Indiana Future Homemaker Association staging a four-day summer workshop on the campus of Ball State Teachers College, Muncie.

Mrs. Charles Reece, district adviser, of Claypool, is serving as a consultant for the work groups. Phyllis Cook, of Bourbon, is among the state officers attending. Mary Roahrig, of Bourbon, and Maurine Smith, of Milford, are among district officers at the workshop.

75 Years Ago

August 3 1930

    The town of Burket is now duly incorporated. A certified vote of the recent election in the town was presented to the county commissioners by Attorney Morrison Rockhill. The commissioners then declared the town incorporated and Aug. 19 was the date set for the purpose of electing officers, consisting of councilmen, secretary and treasurer. Following the election, the board will meet and elect a president.
