    The Warsaw Area Career Center Machine Tool Technology students won first place in the 33rd annual Indiana Machine Trades Contest March 26 at Vincennes University.

Team members are Matt Alexander, Brandon Biltz, Jeff Williams, Ben Taylor, Brian Johnson, Chad Miller and Shawn Gatke. Building trades coordinator is Robert Huffman.

    FORT KNOX, Ky. - Randy R. Nellans, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dean Nellans Jr., Mentone, recently was promoted to Army private first class while serving as a tank driver with the 194th Armored Brigade at Fort Knox, Ky.

Nellans is a 1976 graduate of Tippecanoe Valley High School.

    Clifford Smith, of Leesburg, was installed as acting postmaster at Leesburg, succeeding Mrs. Blanche Anglin, who retired after 20 years of service.

Smith, 35, has been employed with the railway mail service, working with the Pennsylvania railroad between Chicago and Pittsburgh.

    Kosciusko County schools have been in the grip of a measles epidemic the past week or 10 days. About 300 have been afflicted. Those most badly affected were Atwood, 40 cases; Etna Green, 66; Clunette, 39; Milford, 40; Sidney, 25; North Webster, 25; and about 50 per cent of the enrollment in East and West Millwood schools, Hall and Cable schools. Unofficial reports are that there are about 40 cases in Warsaw.
