    The Warsaw Community Public Library is closing in on its official unveiling of the newly renovated $5.9-million facility.

Along with a new look, the library is offering new services and programs to bring the resident of Warsaw and Kosciusko County a "Window on the World," which is the theme for the Sept. 13-19 dedication festivities.

    POTPOURRI - Broken Jaw - Dan Anglin, an official of the Clunette Elevator, was coaching his Etna Green Little League team last weekend when his jaw was hit by a baseball and broken in three places.


50 Years Ago

August 23 1958

    Gerald Kelly, Warsaw, and his father, Chester Kelly, caught a 27-1/2-pound buffalo fish in Winona Lake while fishing for blue gills near the fairgrounds dock. Buffalo's downfall was due to 1/2 a catalpa worm, a light line and a cane pole. It took 30 minutes and a borrowed landing net to get him in the boat.

August 23 1933

    NAPPANEE - Action was taken to relegate Nappanee to the classification of a town.

Now a fifth-class city, the council adopted a resolution calling for the election of town officers to assume office in January. Under the Indiana law, communities of 3,000 or under are towns. Nappanee, according to the census, is 43 under that figure.
