Wagon Wheel Theatre: 1955 to 2005. In the beginning (until 1961), the Playhouse was a stage under a tent, with lawn chairs (and then steel seats) for seating. Many summers, temperatures reached 103 degrees inside the tent. In the late 1960's, WWT owner Herbert Petrie approached Charlie Bertsch about buying the theatre. Instead, he bought a share along with Blaine Mikesell, Bob Steele, Gay Robinson, Loren Miller and Larry Castaldi. June Bertsch would bake cookies for the 55-60 kids, becoming a mother figure to them. The Bertsch's were part owners of WWT for approximately 17 years.
Actors Andy Robinson and Ben Dicke are heading up two children's theatre camps this summer, something never done before.
