Kosciusko County Farmer’s Market will open for the 2005 season May 7 at the fairgrounds. The market will be open each Saturday through Oct. 31. Officers this season are Lisa Hawley and Eleanor Holt, co-presidents; Patricia Walters, treasurer; Judy Gunter, secretary; Kelly Smith and Kerry Warren, newsletter.
Winners of The Times-Union “Draw Your Mom” contest: 3 to 5 years old, Danielle Anderson and her mom Ann; 6 to 8, Gabi Bradley and her mom Tara; 9 to 12, Heather Cummings and her mom Leanne.
Sarah Wegener and her son Cayden were first in line at the Marsh Supermarket parking lot for a chance to meet Indianapolis Colts players David Thornton and Troy Walters, who were kicking off the Colts’ “Make It Personal” tour. They signed everything from hats, t-shirts and patio bricks for more than 300 fans.

Warsaw YMCA Most Valuable Swimmers are: 8 and under – Evan Mock, D.J. Grindle, Laura Lundin; 9 and 10 – Mike McCammon, Teresa Lundin; 11 and 12 – Alex Wood, Sara Cajacob; 13 and14 – Ty Mann, Nate Mattfeld, Catherine Lundin. Team and spirit awards went to Monica Mann, Lisa Prichard, Sara Niemier, Sara Wise and Lynnly Wood.
KC the Squirrel joined Claypool Elementary students Ryan Owens, Deric Ransbottom, Jason and Mika Shepherd, Ben Knoop and Cory Lindzy to kick off National Library Week.
Tippecanoe Valley school board hired Scott Bibler as head football coach. He graduated from Valley in 1982 as a standout player, playing under Coach Charlie Smith and helping the Vikings win the state championship in 1979. He played for four years at Taylor University, leading the Trojans to a 5-4 record. Bibler is currently an assistant coach at Plymouth until June 4.

Bruce Pierce and Candy Leinker were crowned king and queen of North Webster High School, with Barry Reasoner as prince and Sue Roose, princess.
Milford High School’s speech and dramatic club, Rhetama, begins work on its final production of the school year, “Our Miss Brooks,” with Sharron Moneyheffer in the title role. William E. Dorsey, English teacher, directs the play scheduled for May 14-15.
Founding of the Church of Christ in Etna Green began in the home of Samuel Manley in 1859 and the group met in an old school building in town until 1865 when the new church was finished. The Bible School was organized between 1886 and 1889 with Donald N. Melick the first superintendent.

Betty Lou Boganwright, 8, daughter of the John Boganwrights, Mentone, has the first case of smallpox in Kosciusko County for a long time. Dr. O.H. Richer, acting county health officer during the illness of Dr. Max Garber, Warsaw, recalls the smallpox epidemic here of 1922 in which Warsaw had a number of severe cases and the county experienced a few deaths. Dr. Richer urges vaccination of all school children. At Beaver Dam, Dr. Richer placed the Ernest Silveus home under quarantine for scarlet fever, as Esther,15, is suffering with the fever.
Arthur McKee, Winona’s manager, has landed the national conference of Methodist young people in the park from Aug. 27 to Sept. 1. He has also contracted with the Sudan Interior Mission for its conference July 15 to 21.
