    A recipient of the Kosciusko County Chamber of Commerce Man of the Year Award has more talents than the selection committee ever imagined. Warsaw's own Bob Sanders recently put those talents on display while dining at the Barbee Hotel. Seated at a table adjacent to Times-Union Managing Editor Gary Gerard, Sanders felt the urge to instruct Gerard's 14-year-old son Evan in the old, suspend-a-spoon-on-the-end-of-the-nose trick. Problem was, the youth already knew the trick. Not to be deterred - or outdone - Sanders turned the event into a contest to see who could keep a spoon suspended on their nose the longest. Sanders won, hands down.

    Michael L. Matrejek, son of Al Matrejek of Warsaw, has been promoted in the U.S. Army to the rank of chief warrant officer two.

Matrejek is a pilot at Giebelstadt, West Germany, with the 3rd Aviation Battalion.

April 24 1959

    One of the highlights during the observance of National Boys' Club Week at Baker Boys' Club in Warsaw is tournament competition.

Director L.N. "Pete" Thorn announced that the ping-pong and basketball "horse" tournaments have been completed. Jim McCleary is the club's ping-pong champion while Bill Grow emerged as winner of the "horse" tourney.
