Bob Richmond, 84, was appointed a Sagamore of the Wabash, Indiana’s highest honor. The distinction is a personal tribute given to those who have rendered a distinguished service to the state or to the governor. In his letter, Gov. Joe Kernan said that the term “Sagamore of the Wabash” was used by the Native Americans to describe someone you look to for wisdom and advice. He said, “You fit that description.” Richmond served on the city council from 1984 to 1995 and was named Man of the Year in 1993.
