    C. Aaron Rovenstine, sheriff of Kosciusko County, has been elected to serve on the board of the Committee to Commemorate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Rovenstine is a 1978 graduate of Warsaw Community High School, got his criminal justice degree from Ball State University in 1982 and graduated from the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in 1984.

    Burket Day Committee donated checks of $200 each to the Burket United Methodist Church for a furnace, the Burket Elementary School for library books, and the town of Burket for barricades and signs. The donations are from Burket Day Festival proceeds.

December 12 1959

    Mike Munson and Mary Lu Rose were crowned "Mr. and Miss Courtesy" as a climax of Courtesy Week at Warsaw High School. Mike, 17, is a senior. His parents are Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Munson, Warsaw. Mary Lu, also 17, is a junior. Her parents are Rev. and Mrs. Lee M. Rose, Warsaw. Their attendants (runners-up in the voting by the student body and faculty) were seniors Ward Kriegbaum and Judy Philapy.

December 12 1934

    Fire Chief Herbert Thompson and 22 members of the Warsaw volunteer fire department were allowed their annual salary of $50 a year for attending 85 percent of the fire alarms during 1934.

One member attended 83 percent of the fires, Bob Hodges, and received $41. Of the other firemen who attended, Everett Brown and Leonard Wolford had a 100 percent attendance record.
