    POTPOURRI - Of Gas And Keys - Lake City Bank employee Ann Bailey couldn't help but laugh recently.

She inadvertently left her keys locked in her car and left the car running for three hours while she attended the Citizens Police Academy graduation. Bailey, who was running late when she arrived, discovered her bad luck around 9 p.m. Warsaw Police Patrolman Greg Oberlin got her car door open.

    Wawasee's Christy Speicher and Anita Swope were among five juniors named to the Northern Lakes all-conference volleyball first team.

Wawasee and Warsaw each had a player on the second team - Sandy Payne for the Warriors and Michelle Sand for Warsaw.

    A happy Clarence L. Scholl, Warsaw district meter foreman for the Northern Indiana Public Service Co., received a gold wrist watch for having served with the utility for a quarter century.

    Local winners of the bean-guessing contest at Jet White are: Fifth, Kenneth Coyle, and sixth, Mrs. Joe Miller. Both are from Warsaw and both received dishes as their prize. The number of beans were 1,488.
