Donald K. Wiesehan, Claypool, won the Indiana State Pistol Championship held at the Marion County Fish and Game Reserve in Indianapolis Sept. 17-18. He had a grand aggregate of 2576-95X out of a possible 2700 points, making this his fifth time as champion. He also won the Excellence in Competition match with an aggregate of 275-6X out of a possible 300 points.

    Warsaw High School 1963 graduate Bill Spurlock (wife Rosemary) and WHS 1962 graduate Jo Drudge Parker (husband Steve) met in September on the same tour of Ireland. At Shannon airport, they saw each other's addresses on their suitcases and couldn't believe someone else from Warsaw was going.

25 Years

Wyman Schenk, conductor of Amtrak train #30 through Warsaw, says he's been with the rail service for 26 years, being away for four years when he was in Vietnam during the service. "It's in the blood. My grandfather worked in the Warsaw tower block station, aligning signals for the north-south and east-west tracks in the early 1900s. My father was a telegrapher."  Schenk has walked every mile of this line, from Fort Wayne to Pittsburgh.

    Grandparents Day was Sept. 28 at Warsaw Christian School. The students prepared a special program, a flute duet and skit. Julia L'Ecuyer, fourth-grade class of Barb Titus, had an adopted Grandpa for the day, Irv Lindemuth.

50 Years

Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Wolford, Route 30 west, Warsaw, arranged a surprise party Sunday, Sept. 12, in honor of their daughter, Bridget Jean, on her seventh birthday. The strains of "Happy Birthday" sung by the guests and the Cox Studio camera flash greeted Bridget as she entered the Hospitality Room at Horn's Sunnymede Restaurant.

    Youngsters from Warsaw and Wayne Township are busy grooming pets and decorating bicycles for the annual Kiwanis Club Parade Saturday, Sept. 18, starting at the City Hall on High Street. Matt Mosbaugh puts finishing touches on his dog, Monty; John Logue holds his duck, Silky; Fred Kintzel smooths the fur on his cat, Tom; Bill Taylor and Wesley Olds put the final ribbons on their bicycles.

75 Years

Another factory will be added to Warsaw's ever-growing list of manufacturing concerns as the New Process Cheese corporation goes into operation here by the first of October. The plant, which is to occupy part of the Warsaw Milk Company building, Road 25 West, is headed by Frank Luecke, of Warsaw, and J.M. and Roy Reolke, of Teegarden, Ind. Mr. Luecke says they specialize in making big cheeses.

    City health officer, Dr. George Schlemmer, and county health officer, Dr. Max Garber, received advice from the state board of health that county and city schools should not be opened before September 23rd, not the 16th as previously announced. Kosciusko County has had no paralysis cases reported for seven days, the number of victims remaining at five.
