10 Years AgoA commemorative plate has been made in honor of Warsaw's celebration as a city for 125 years. Seven of the oldest businesses still in existence donated the funds to purchase 500 plates. Sponsors include: Times-Union (1854), Lake City Bank (1872), DePuy (1895), Little Crow Foods (1903), Dalton Corp. (1910), Myer Levin & Sons (1914) and Zimmer (1927).25 Years AgoWarsaw outfielder Mike Purcell will be Warsaw's second all-star performer of the summer when he plays in this weekend's state baseball all-star games at Anderson. Purcell is the second Tiger to play in the all-star series, and the second for Warsaw coach Jim Dermody.50 Years AgoTwo hundred fifty graduates of Warsaw High School renewed acquaintances and reminisced of "the good old days" at the biennial reunion held Sunday afternoon at the county fairgrounds. It was a disappointingly small turnout, held down no doubt by the rain that fell throughout most of the late morning hours. One hundred eight of the alumni who registered were from out-of-town, but the oldest there were from Warsaw - John F. (Jack) Shoup, 1890; Elmer B. Funk, 1895, and his wife, May, 1897; Mrs. Edith (Goldsmith) Coons, 1900; and Maude (Ettinger) Schade, 1901.75 Years AgoMr. and Mrs. Donald Gross of near Warsaw and Mr. and Mrs. Marion Konkle of Pierceton visited in Cleveland, Ohio, where they saw a double-header baseball game between Detroit and Cleveland. They also attended the all-star game and visited various places in Ohio.
