10 Years Ago Warsaw Community High School senior Peter Lucht has signed his letter of intent to play men’s soccer at Grace College beginning this fall. He is the son of Mary and Alan Lucht. Warsaw athletic director Dave Fulkerson, Warsaw soccer coach Scott Bauer and Grace soccer coach Roy Danielian were at the signing. Lucht, who will play midfield and forward, joins a team that finished 10-10-1 last season. The Lancers finished fourth in the Mid-central Conference and advanced to the NCCAA Regional Championship game, falling one victory short of the NCCAA National Tournament. 25 Years Ago Two law enforcement employees were named Officers of the Year by the Warsaw Morning Optimist Club recently. Cpl. Rodney Thomas, a five-year veteran of the Warsaw Police Department, was voted to receive the award by his fellow officers. Deputy Roy Carlile, with the county sheriff’s department since 1975, was chosen as the outstanding county officer of the year. 50 Years Ago Bernard Miner, Warsaw, will head 20 to 25 equestrians as state show chairman of the Indiana Appaloosa Association Inc. The Appaloosa Association was chosen to participate in the fifth annual “500” Festival Parade to be held May 27, in downtown Indianapolis. Miniear’s 10-year-old daughter, Sheri, and Ted Bollinger, also of this city, will be a part of the parade. 75 Years Ago Mr. and Mrs. Harley Davis, accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Roger Davis, and son Jackie, left recently for the Upper Peninsular of Michigan. They plan to remain in Sioux City for the next three months where Harley Davis and Roger Davis will sell school supplies. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Mauzy and daughter, Margaret, Mr. and Mrs. Francis Bodkin and Earl Teghtmeyer spent Sunday in Benton Harbor, Mich.
