The David L. Carey Memorial Scholarship Fund recently was established at the Kosciusko County Community Foundation in order to aid Wawasee High School seniors who are pursuing postsecondary education at a vocational or technical school or who are pursuing a skilled trade certificate.
David “Dave” Carey was a local businessman. He owned and operated Carey Excavating for 40 years and Carey Realty for 20 years. Carey was a 14-year member of the Wawasee School Board, during which time he especially appreciated the corporation’s career and technical educational opportunities for students. Many of Carey’s friends and family members contributed to the fund in order to benefit young people in a way that would honor Carey’s values and memory.
The deadline for applying to The David L. Carey Memorial Scholarship Fund is April 1.
