NORTH MANCHESTER — The Manchester girls tennis team got a 4-1 home win over Whitko Tuesday in Three Rivers Conference action. In the TRC win, Manchester received victories from Malyssa Bedke (No. 2 singles), Lauren Wagoner (No. 3 singles), its No. 1 doubles team (Skye Haywood/Rebecca Ruppert) and its No. 2 doubles team (Amy Collett/Tawni Kincaid). Whitko’s win came at No. 1 singles, where Nicole Slaymaker was a 6-2, 6-1 defeat of Megan Metzger. Whitko hosts Rochester in a TRC match today at 5 p.m. Manchester’s next match Thursday at home against Peru.
Playing a Northern Lakes Conference match in Nappanee Tuesday, the Warsaw girls tennis team got an impressive 5-0 win over NorthWood. In the win, the Lady Tigers weren’t forced into a third set on any of the five sets. Among the wins was Alli Tucker’s 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 1 singles, as well as Carlye Bishopp and Lindsay Sciarra’s 6-3, 6-4 victory at No. 1 doubles. Warsaw’s Sarah Hartle also kept her undefeated season in tact at No. 2 singles, winning 6-1, 6-1, improving to 9-0. The 5-4 (3-1 NLC) Lady Tigers play their last home match of the season today against Concord.
The Wawasee girls tennis team got its first Northern Lakes Conference win of the season Tuesday at Elkhart Memorial. In the 4-1 victory, Wawasee got singles wins from Morgan Geer (No. 2) and Katie Allen (No. 3). Rounding out the scoring were wins from the No. 1 doubles team of Lauren Erb and Haley Windle, as well as the No. 2 doubles team of Charlotte Searfoss and Katy Ashpole. Wawasee is back in NLC play Thursday at home against NorthWood.
An eight-run second inning helped push the Tippecanoe Valley baseball team to an 11-8 home win over Bethany Christian Tuesday. Alex Newman got the win for the Vikings, as Brody Andrews went 3 for 3 with two RBIs. Clayton Adamson and Tyler Akers also had two RBIs each, while Tanner Andrews and James Hackworth posted RBIs as well. The Vikings host Northfield in Three Rivers Conference action today.

BOYS GOLF Tuesday in North Manchester
The Whitko boys golf team collected two Three Rivers Conference wins Tuesday at Sycamore Golf Club. Playing on their home course, Whitko’s 170 defeated Northfield’s 182 and Manchester’s 189. On the par-36 course, Whitko’s Daniel Zawlocki took medalist honors with a 39, followed by teammate Donovan Klein’s 40. Manchester’s low shooter was Tyler Watson’s 42. The three teams will compete against each other Saturday at the Northfield Invitational.

Playing at Auburn’s Bridgewater Golf Club Tuesday, the Lakeland Christian Academy fell 196-197 against Lakewood Park Christian. In the narrow loss, LCA was led by Joel Haines’ 43, followed by Ross Wallen’s 46. The LCA Cougars travel to Timber Ridge Golf Course in Millersburg Thursday to take on Clinton Christian.

Hitting the road for an out-of-conference game Tuesday, the Manchester softball team defeated Caston 8-4. Mikie Crate got the win for the Lady Squires, allowing just one hit over four-and-two-thirds innings. Makayla Sainsbury, Lana Miller and Hannah Little each had two hits in the win, with Kayla Flack and Little driving in two runs. The 6-5 Lady Squires host North Miami in Three Rivers Conference play today at 5 p.m.

GIRLS TRACK AND FIELD Tuesday in Goshen
The Warsaw girls track and field team closed out is dual meet schedule with a 93-39 win at Goshen Tuesday, ending the Lady Tigers’ Northern Lakes Conference season at 7-0. In the lopsided win, Warsaw won 10 of the 16 events, including three by Ashley Erba (1600, 800, 3200). Other wins were achieved by Samantha Jensen (discus), Abby Schue (high jump), Sarah Heagy (shot put), Leah Moore (400), its 3200 relay (Brooke Kline, Hannah Cutshall, Kristin Quick, Erba) and its 1600 relay (Quick, Kelly Wildman, Madison Long, Jackie Ferguson). Megan Dearlove and Kristen VanOsdol tied for first in the pole vault. The Lady Tigers will go for their sixth-straight NLC championship when they host the conference meet Tuesday.
Competing in a three-team Northern Lakes Conference girls track and field meet Tuesday at Elkhart Memorial, the Wawasee Lady Warriors fell to the hosts 83-44 and Plymouth 103-28. On the night, Wawasee did get first-place finishes from Sarah Steele (300 hurdles), Ruby Minnick (high jump) and Sarah Rozow (pole vault). The Lady Warriors travel to Warsaw for the NLC Championships Tuesday at 5 p.m.

The Lakeland Christian Academy girls track and field team closed its season out by picking up a pair of wins at Bethany Christian Tuesday. Scoring 64 points, LCA defeated Elkhart Christian (55) and Bethany (26). Helping LCA get the win was Jo Boren’s first-place finishes in the 400, 200 and long jump. Boren also anchored the winning 1600 relay, which also included Hailey Nieveen, Emilee Catron and Hannah Remington. Emilee Catron also won the 800.
