Madison Elementary first- and second-graders recently studied Chinese New Year. Students created traditional Chinese crafts, the unit included guest speakers and they learned Mandarin Chinese phrases including the ‘Happy Birthday’ song. On Feb. 12, students sampled Asian fruits (partially underwritten by Martin’s Supermarket) as well as Chinese candy. This unit will culminate in Madison’s carnival, ‘It’s A World of Fun, Many Faces, Different Places!’ today from 6 to 8 p.m.
