The congregation of Atwood Otterbein Church is hosting a 50th wedding anniversary open house for David and Jackie Banning, the church’s pastor.
The event will take place on Sunday, Aug. 2 from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Atwood Community Building. The public is invited.
The Bannings were married Aug. 7, 1976, at Ross Baptist Church in Gary. The pastor’s father, a Baptist pastor, officiated at the wedding ceremony. Jackie’s sister, Sandy, was maid of honor and David’s brother, Chuck, was best man.
Following their wedding, the Bannings lived in and around Griffith and Merrillville before relocating to Atwood.
Their union produced two children, Lindsay Bobay, of Speedway; and Marcus Banning, Warsaw. They enjoy their two granddaughters, Harlow and Maren.
