SYRACUSE - Area residents can have their prehistoric and Native American artifacts identified, authenticated and evaluated at the Syracuse-Wawasee Museum Aug. 31. Jim Bickel, Huntington, will host the event, which will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Syracuse Community Center, 1013 N. Long Drive, Syracuse. Museum Curator Eloise Kuhn also will be on hand from 8 to 9 p.m. to guide visitors and answer questions. Bickel said he wanted to offer a program strictly dedicated to artifact identification after attendees of previous programs showed him artifacts that there wasn't time to inspect. “Here is the opportunity to find out what the Indian stone your grandfather gave you, and you stuck in a drawer for 30 years, really is,” Bickel said. The program is free, though donations to the museum will be accepted. Light refreshments will be served afterward.
