Barbra J. Krisher of Aboite Township was elected chairman of the Third District Republican Committee recently. Tony Culver of Angola was elected vice chairman. Their term for these positions will be two years. Krisher expressed her interest in keeping the Republican Party unified and strong in her remarks to the committee before the election.
Krisher served as vice chairman of the Third District Committee for the last 10 years. She is the Aboite Township Trustee and is active in regional politics. Culver is chairman of the Steuben County Republican Party and has served in that position for many years. He works at Croxton Roe Insurance in Angola.
According to the rules of The Indiana Republican Party, District Committee organizations must elect new officers the second Saturday of March. Any contested races are elected by secret ballot. The chairman and vice chairman serve on the Indiana State Republican Committee with similar officers from the eight other district committees. The chairman and vice chairman (or their qualified alternative) of each county in the district are permitted to vote in the election. Counties in the Third District include: Allen, DeKalb, Elkhart, Kosciusko, LaGrange, Noble, Steuben, and Whitley.
Derek Pillie of Fort Wayne was elected secretary and Phyllis Herendeen of Albion was elected treasurer.
