MARION — Kimberly R. Enyeart, 58, Claypool, died at 4:26 p.m. Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at Parkview Warsaw Hospital. She was born in Marion to Marcus and Maxine Farfield Enyeart, who preceded her in death. Kimberly received an associate degree and was the supervisor at Walmart Vision Center in Warsaw. She is known for how much she loved being outdoors, whether it was mowing the yard and fishing, or being out on the water and boating. Kimberly loved animals and people, and she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Loved ones to cherish her memory include her niece, Sarah Williams, Marion; and two cousins, Jim and Larry Long. Visitation for Kimberly is from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Saturday, April 29, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion. ROCHESTER — Kyle Phillips, 36, Plymouth, formerly of Rochester, passed away at 1:38 p.m. Monday, April 24, 2017, at his residence.  Arrangements are pending at Good Family Funeral Home, Rochester.  

Jackie Ann Hartman Gilfillian, a childhood resident of Warsaw, and final resident of Minneapolis, Minn., died Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2017, in Minneapolis at the age of 62 from brain cancer. She was born July 21, 1954, to Dorothy Copeland Shenefield and Ellis Hartman. She was united in marriage to George Gilfillian and raised her family in California.  Jackie received a Bachelor of Information Technology from San Francisco University and worked for several companies in California before ending her career at Datalink in Minnesota, where she moved to be near her grandchildren. Jackie loved quilting, watching hockey, the ocean, going to movies, and had a wonderful smile and twinkle in her eye that could light up a room. She is survived by her daughter, Vickie S. Gilfillian-Bennett; son-in-law, Mosi Bennett; stepdaughter, Teejah S. Gilfillian; grandchildren: Graham, Garrick and Niles Bennett; two sisters, Pattie S. Laney (and husband Michael) and Sue Woodcock (and husband Russ); one stepsister, Julie Schilling (and husband Rodney); three nephews: Jacob and Kaleb Neukam and Sean Woods; a niece, Renee Woods; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, April 28, at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with Chaplain Robert Jarboe officiating. GOSHEN — Charles L. Rogers, 95, formerly of New Paris, died at 1:38 a.m. April 16, 2017, at Sunny Hills, Sebring, Fla.  He was born Jan. 21, 1922, in Nappanee, to Bruce and Mary Fox Rogers. He married Grace Cowley on Oct. 13, 1944, and she died Feb. 14, 2000. He married Deloris Harley Buttram on April 7, 2006.  Surviving are his wife, Deloris Rogers, Sebring; daughters, Marilyn (Galen “Dick”) Groves, New Paris, and Peggy Rogers (Greg Gunther), Pasadena, Calif.; a stepson, Walker Malone, Vacaville, Calif.; sisters, Marjorie Kirkdorffer, Elkhart, and Mary Mathews, New Paris; a brother, Loyal Rogers, New Paris; grandchildren: Michael Groves, Goshen; Anthony Groves, Oaklyn, N.J.; Angela Groves Price, Warsaw; Sara Gunther, Dallas, Texas; and David Gunther, Seattle, Wash.; two stepgranddaughters; 13 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Grace; sisters, Dorothy Watkins and Arlene Rogers; brothers, Carlyle Rogers and Bruce Jr. Rogers; a stepdaughter, Julie Wilkins; and a granddaughter, Anna Groves. Charles attended the historic Union Township Brown School (a one-room school). He was owner of Rogers Construction Inc., retiring in 1989.  He was a member of Maple Grove Church of the Brethren, New Paris, where he served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher and youth counselor; and Sebring Church of the Brethren, where he served as deacon.  Charles was a member and past president of both the New Paris Chamber of Commerce and the Elkhart County Home Builders and served on the Goshen General Hospital board of directors. He enjoyed years of antique tool sales at the flea market at Fireman’s Field, Highlands County Fairgrounds and Shriners, Sebring; Antique Steam Engine Association and Flea Market, Jones, Mich.; and the LaGrange County Antique Steam Engine Association, LaGrange; as well as the New Paris Community Garage Sale. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, April 28, and one hour prior to the 1:30 p.m. service Saturday, April 29, all at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home, 311 S. Main St., Goshen. The Rev. Timothy Morphew, Bethany Church of the Brethren, will officiate. Joseph James “Joe” Verteramo passed away at 6 p.m. Monday, April 24, 2017,  in Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. He was 87. Joe was born Oct. 11, 1929, in Springfield, Mass., to James Joseph and Agnes Brocka Verteramo. He earned a Bachelor of Science from Texas A&M College. On Feb. 27, 1954, in Harlingen, Texas, he chose Gloria Egly to be his bride and life partner. They would share 63 years. Twelve of those years would be in Warsaw, having come from Plymouth.

Cleora Mae Cauffman, 92, passed away Sunday morning, April 23, 2017, peacefully in Kosciusko Community Hospital after a brief Illness. Cleora was born the second of five children to Clarence Burr Ellenwood and Maggie Miller Ellenwood on June 2, 1924, in Wellsville, Kan. When Cleora was 13, her mother died and the family returned to Indiana to be nearer family. She attended and graduated from Claypool High School with the class of 1942. It was here that she met her future husband, Dale E. Cauffman. Cleora and Dale faithfully attended alumni banquets throughout the following seven decades. On Nov. 26, 1942, at Claypool Evangelical United Brethren Church, Dale and Cleora were married. They shared an enduring loving marriage for over 63 years before Dale’s passing on Feb. 19, 2006. Cleora is survived by four children: Rebecca (John) Zimmerman, San Antonio, Texas; Rita Cauffman, Warsaw; Randall (Linda) Cauffman, Mountain Home, Idaho; and Rhonda (Jim) Rigney, Mishawaka. There are nine grandchildren who meant the world to Cleora: Marcus (Lisa) Zimmerman, San Antonio; Martha Jane (Rich) Ekstrom, Elkhart; Michael (Melissa) Zimmerman, New Paris; Nathaniel (Katlin) Cauffman, Nicholas Cauffman and Andrew (Amanda) Cauffman, all of Boise, Idaho; Zachary and Dane Rigney, both of Carmel; and Tyler Rigney, Akron, Ohio. There are 13 great-grandchildren, and much to Cleora’s delight a great-great-granddaughter was born this past October. Cleora is also survived by sisters Mary Patterson, Warsaw, and Ida Helvey-Cripe, North Manchester.  She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister Burrlene Harris and brother Earl Ellenwood. Cleora was the Wayne Township assessor for 24 years, retiring in 1992. Cleora and Dale were inducted into the Republican Hall of Fame in 1987. She was past Woman of the Year for the GOP, a long-standing member of the Happy Homemakers Club, a member of Kosciusko Home Extension for over 70 years, and could be found displaying her flowers, vegetables and crocheted works at the fair every year. The spectacular garden you saw driving south of town on Ind. 15 belonged to them. Cleora and Dale took their children on many adventures across the United States from one coast to the other in the family RV. They visited many family members on their travels. In time, the grandchildren got to be part of the adventures and loved camping with them. Cleora was a member of Winona Lake Grace Brethren Church. Visitation with the family will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 26, in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw.  Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 27, at Winona Lake Grace Brethren Church, with Pastor Tom Miller officiating. FORT WAYNE – John L. "Jack" Steinkamp, 74, passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at Bryn Mawr Hospital in Bryn Mawr, Pa.  Born in Seymour, Jack was the son of the late Glenn and Jean Steinkamp. He graduated from Indiana University with a doctorate in law and began working at what is now Lincoln Financial Group. He retired 36 years later as vice president and associate general council.  He was a 28-year member of Faith Baptist Church in Fort Wayne, and was a member of the 707 Club in Media, Pa. Jack enjoyed the outdoors: golfing, traveling and taking daily walks. He loved to visit with family and friends and enjoyed all "woofers" he was privileged to meet.

Esther J. Orcutt, 91, passed away April 20, 2017, in Miller's Merry Manor, Warsaw. Born to Robert Henry and Sylvia (Fawley) Secor on Feb. 10, 1926, in Palestine, Esther was a 1944 graduate of Mentone High School. On May 23, 1946, she became the wife of Robert Grindle until his passing on Aug 30, 1994. Esther would then marry Albert Orcutt on Aug. 19, 1998, in Casper, Wyo.; he survives. A lifetime Kosciusko County resident, she worked at Wolford Cleaners for 13 years. Esther was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Atwood, where she enjoyed singing. She loved to travel and sing. Survivors include four stepsons: Michael (Maureen) Orcutt, Boston; Rex (Jean) Orcutt and Wayne (Vicki) Orcutt, Warsaw; Mitchell (Rachael) Orcutt, Dallas; three grandchildren: Krystal (Josh) Smith and Sara Shepherd, Warsaw; Ryan Niccum, Niles; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in passing was: a daughter, Annita Willard; son, Greg Grindle; stepdaughter, Arlene Talladino (Nov. 22, 2008); five sisters: Naomi Cain, Eva Landis, Mary Bell Sellers, Margaret Secor and Marie Baugher; and two brothers: Dale Secor and Orville Secor. Visitation is Monday, April 24 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw. Funeral is at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 25 in the funeral home. NAPPANEE – Donna J. Egolf, 61, Nappanee, died at 6:30 a.m. Friday, April 21, 2017 at Elkhart Hospice House, where she had been admitted Tuesday. She was born Jan. 10, 1956, in Elkhart, to Russell Jr. and Janice Dick Dumph. On June 29, 1974, she married Mike Egolf, who survives. AKRON — Dennis L. Thompson, 74, Akron, died at 11:10 a.m. Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at his residence after being in failing health for 15 years. He was born Nov. 13, 1942, in Peru, to Francis L. “Whitey” and Kathryn A. Fitzpatrick Thompson. On June 16, 1964, in Rochester, he married Phyllis J. Craig; she survives. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army.   Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron, with Pastor David Eaton officiating. NORTH MANCHESTER — Rodney M. Monce, 68, Peru, died at 2:53 a.m. April 19, 2017, in his residence. He was born Nov. 24, 1948, in Wabash, to Oscar Myrl and Mary Alice Grossnickle Monce. Maralee V. Hill Watson, 91, passed away March 19, 2017, in Surprise, Ariz. She was born in Warsaw, the daughter of Dora Marie Culp and Ellis Hill, and attended Larwill school. Maralee and her beloved husband, James W. Watson, were married on June 24, 1945. Maralee is survived by two children, Linda Carol Blake and Daniel R. Watson; five grandchildren: Joel Douglas Blake, Jeri Dee Fuqua, James W. Watson, Robert M. Watson and Amber Petculescu; and great-grandchildren: Aliava Joy Watson, Emma Grace Watson and Archer Petculescu. She was preceded by her parents, Dora Marie Culp and Ellis Hill; her husband, James W. Watson; two brothers; and five sisters. Burial was in El Mirage, Ariz.  

John E. Hanish, 81, Beaver Dam, Claypool, passed away at 3:08 p.m.  Friday, April 14, 2017, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.  He was born June 29, 1935, in Hammond, to Chuck and Myrtle Shavey Hanish. He married Dorothy Hoagland on Dec. 14, 1968, in Crown Point. He was an assembler for Ford Motor Co. in Chicago Heights, Ill., for 32 years, retiring in 1988. He was a member of Beaver Dam and Loon Lake Conservation Club and an avid fisherman. He loved to hunt and enjoyed landscaping his yard. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy “Dottie” Hanish, Beaver Dam, Claypool; five daughters: Sharon Prentice, Hobart; Roxanne (Mike) Collins, Woodleaf, N.C.; Minnie (Kevin) Trump, Warsaw; Melinda (Mark) Opachan, Honolulu, Hawaii; and Beth Ann (Mario) Valtierra, Lowell; three sons: Ray Hanish, Claypool; Ron Furst, Crown Point; and John (Rhonda) Hanish, Jasonville; a son-in-law, Troy Denton, Akron; 18 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; a sister, Darlene McHugh, Valparaiso; and a brother, David Hanish, Hammond. He was preceded by a daughter,  Jennifer Hanish, July 18, 2016; and three brothers: Carl Hanish, Don Hanish and Kenneth Hanish.
