Alice Kline, 97, Syracuse, passed away Aug. 1, 2017, at Goshen Hospital.

Bryce E. Eiler, 85, Huntington, died at 8:45 a.m. July 31, 2017, in Heritage of Huntington, Huntington.

Carlton “Cap” Beer, 92, Milford, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2017, at Goshen Hospital.

Alexzander Charles Long went home to be with the Lord at 8:50 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2017, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, shortly after his birth.

George Plew Jr., 93, Warsaw, passed away at 7:45 a.m. Monday, July 31, 2017, at Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.

Larry L. Sutton, 66, Akron, passed away Monday, July 31, 2017, at his residence.

Verta Dobbs York Scroggins, 98, Winona Lake, passed away Sunday, July 30, 2017, at Grace Village Hospice, Winona Lake.

David Arthur Easton, beloved husband, father, grandfather, friend and proud former United States Marine, died peacefully July 29. He was 85.

Robert Larue Densmore, 83, Pierceton, formerly of Bremen, passed away at 6:05 p.m. Sunday, July 30, 2017, in Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne.

Leslie Gayle Liebschutz Carnes, 52, passed away Tuesday, June 27, 2017, after a long and courageous fight with pancreatic cancer.

Steven Brooks Bayne, 73, south Florida, passed away April 21, 2017, in a south Florida hospital. He battled cancer for 13 years. He leaves behind his life partner of 20 years, Laura Erdley. Steve was the only child of Martha and John Bayne, lifelong residents of Warsaw. He graduated from Warsaw High School in 1962, was discharged from the U.S. Marine Corps in 1968 and graduated from Indiana University in 1974. Steve was a handsome free spirit with a kind and generous nature. His strength, intelligence, natural talent, wit and unassuming personality carried him through life. He loved the ocean. You could often see him sailing, running sprints or jogging on the beach. Steve had a passion for life and a laid-back sense of humor. He had presence. He was special.  It can truly be said, there will never be another Steve Bayne. He will be greatly missed.

Katherine Podsiadly, 97, Warsaw, passed away at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, July 25, 2017, at Parkview Regional Hospital, Fort Wayne. She was born July 15, 1920, in Gordon, Ohio, to Frank and Mary Schlatt Luburich.  She attended public schools in Detroit, Mich., and was married on Aug. 21, 1943, in Detroit, to Francis Podsiadly, who preceded her in 2007. She was a homemaker and moved to Warsaw area in 2015 after living in Highland and Milwaukee, Wis., for many years.  She was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Milwaukee, and attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Warsaw.  She is survived by a daughter, Barbara (Gilbert) Kotas, Warsaw; two sons, Charles (Mary) Podsiadly of Germanton, Wis., and Bruce Podsiadly of Madison, Wis.; a granddaughter, Lisa (James) Poblette.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brothers, Frank and Peter Podsiadly.  Cremation will take place. Private family burial will be held at Arlington Cemetery in Milwaukee at a later date. Cremation Services of Kosciusko County 4356 N. SYRACUSE – Jeffrey Noel "Jeff" ReedJ, 60, Syracuse, died at 9:29 p.m. on July 26, 2017, at Parkview Regional Hospital, Fort Wayne. He was born Dec. 13, 1956, in Goshen, to Stanley Eugene and Harriett Ann Wysong Reed. No public visitation or service will be held. Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, 4356 N. Ind. 15, Warsaw. RICHMOND — Donnie M. Karnes, 87, passed away July 27, 2017, at Arbor Trace Nursing Home, Richmond.  A memorial service will be held at a later date.  Community Family Funeral Home, Richmond, has been entrusted with arrangements.

Jeffrey Noel "Jeff" Reed, 60, of Syracuse, passed away at 9:29 p.m. on Wednesday, July 26, 2017, at Parkview Regional Hospital in Fort Wayne. Arrangements are pending at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse.  

Ruth Imogenee  Zent, 89, of Nappanee, died at 6:45 a.m. Thursday, July 27, 2017, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Wakarusa, after a short illness.   She was born May 11, 1928, in Walkerton to Homer O. and Ethel (Hildebrand) Thornburg. On Oct. 30, 1949, she married Dennis J. “DZ” Zent in Plymouth.  He preceded her in death Oct. 27, 2016.   Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, August 3, 2017, at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee.  Services will be at 11 a.m., Friday, Aug. 4 at the Funeral Home. Cremation will take place and inurnment will be in Plymouth Cemetery at a later date.

BLOOMFIELD — John Cecil Fuson Jr., 71, Owensburg, passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2017, at his residence. Born Oct. 8, 1945, in Warsaw, he was the son of John Cecil Sr. and Dorothy Hammond Fuson. He worked in the automotive industry as a manager and in sales. Surviving relatives include one son, Steve Fuson (Kris), Greenwood; two grandchildren, Luke Fuson and Maggie Fuson; his stepmother, Rita Fuson; stepbrother, Brad Snyder (Barb); stepsister, Brenda Irvine (Lonnie); one half brother, Michael Fuson (Eleanor); and three half sisters: Marsha Estep (Roy), Jill Sanders (John) and Joye Hochstedler (P.J.). PIERCETON – Carl William Jarrett Sr., 75, of Pierceton, passed away at 9:57 a.m. on Wednesday, July 26, 2017, at Kosciusko County Hospital in Warsaw.  He was born on Sept. 7, 1941, in Indianapolis to Clarence and Ruth (Wilson) Kates.  He graduated from Harry E. Wood High School in Indianapolis, attended Indiana University in Indianapolis, and was a United States Army veteran.  He was married on Dec. 14, 1963, in Indianapolis to Catherine Eaton who survives. He retired in 2005 from DePuy in Warsaw after 20 years and formerly worked for Allis-Chalmers in Wisconsin for many years. He moved to the Pierceton-North Webster area 25 years ago from Wisconsin.  He was a member of the American Legion Post 253 in North Webster.

ROCHESTER — John "JP" Hudkins, 25, Rochester and Nappanee, passed away Wednesday, July 26, 2017.   Arrangements are pending at Good Family Funeral Home, Rochester.  

Larry J. Mohler, 74, Tijeras, Albuquerque, N.M., formerly of Warsaw, went to his eternal home to be with Jesus on Thursday, July 6, 2017. His passing was the result of injuries he suffered in an automobile accident. Larry was born Sept. 20, 1942, in Columbus, Ohio. He was the second of twins born to Dr. Joseph H. “Joe” and Kathryn Senseman Mohler.  He was a 1960 graduate of Trotwood Madison High School. Larry earned a B.A. from Grace College in Winona Lake and an M.S. from Saint Francis College (now University of St. Francis) in Fort Wayne. He taught at Judy School (a one-room schoolhouse north of Warsaw) and then sixth grade at Madison Elementary School in Warsaw until he entered the United States Border Patrol in 1970. Larry was a 28-year veteran of the United States Border Patrol. He attained the rank of deputy chief patrol agent. His last duty station was in Artesia, N.M., where he was the first head of the Border Patrol Advance Training Center.  Larry loved to fish and camp, but his passion was in hunting. He was very involved with action pistol matches. In earlier years when able, he was active in church activities. He loved his children and grandchildren. Left with memories to cherish are his wife: Diana Beth Sheets Mohler, Tijeras; two daughters, Jill Mohler, Tampa, Fla., and Krista (husband Rob) Quinnelly, Campbellsville, Ky.; one grandson; four stepchildren: Sam Ayres, Lacey Dobbins, Will McLellan and Matt McLellan; five stepgrandchildren; one stepgreat-grandchild; one brother, Gary (wife Bobbie) Mohler, Warsaw; one sister, Cheryl (husband John) Perek, Claypool; four nephews; and one niece.  Larry’s death was preceded by his father, Dr. Joseph H. Mohler, and his mother, Kathryn Callahan. A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Aug. 19 at Faith Baptist Church, Artesia.
