Zoners Review Day Care Center

Posted

Catch the Fire Christian Fellowship day care center, operated by Jodi Lozano, 709 E. Smith St., should have an outside play area, according to local ordinance.

The day care was "discovered" operating without proper permits and was reviewed Monday by the Warsaw Board of Zoning Appeals members.

Lozano requested a use variance for a day care center in a residential-2 district, which was approved. A variance from developmental standards for a 13.29-square-foot sign also was approved.

Board members stipulated an outside play area be made available to conform with local laws.

A request by Amber Blackford of Blackford Law Office, 216 W. Fort Wayne St., for four instead of seven parking spaces also was approved.

The board preferred that the garage stay on the property to maintain a residential look instead of tearing it down for a parking lot.

In other business the board:

• Approved the petition from Craig Brown, 416 W. Perry St., requiring a variance for two accessory structures on one lot.

• Approved the request of Mildred Fox, 829 E. Smith St., to have a 12-foot front yard setback for a porch.

The next meeting will be Oct. 22 at 7 p.m. in the city hall council chambers.

BZA members are Alan Clingman, president, Bruce Woodward, Dan Hampton, Richard Keevan, Tom Heuer and Trish Brown.
