Zoners Approve Variances For Lake St. Property

Posted

Virgil Gagnon, 600 N. Lake St., wants to split his existing lot and build a new home.

With Monday's approval by the Warsaw Board of Zoning Appeals of two variances of development standards, as they relate to front and rear yard setbacks, he'll be able to do just that.

The board unanimously approved a variance permitting a 9-foot front yard setback and a 23-foot rear yard setback. Gagnon said with the approval, parking for the apartment building on the lot will be improved and his neighbor's view of Center Lake also will be better.

"Parking won't be any less than it is now. And one neighbor will actually have a better view of the lake once the other garage is removed," Gagnon said.

In other business, city planner Jeff Noffsinger said the petition by Jeannie Williams for a tattoo/piercing parlor at 122 S. Buffalo St. has been withdrawn.

"Any other petition will be subject to the new zoning ordinance amendment prohibiting such businesses in the central business district," he said.
