Zoners Approve Dog Grooming Special Exception, Business Signs

Posted
Warsaw Board of Zoning Appeals Monday approved a special exception for a dog grooming business in a home and a variance from development standards for two signs.
A request from Susan Wihebrink was approved to allow a dog grooming business at 1326 E. Main St.
Wihebrink said she is converting her screened porch to groom two to three small dogs a day.
“There will be no additional employees and it will just be myself,” Wihebrink said.
She said she visited her neighbor’s homes to make sure they did not have concerns with a dog grooming business being located in the neighborhood.
Rick Keeven, board member, made the motion for the special exception with conditions that there be signage, only one employee and the occupation be only under ownership of Wihebrink. Tammy Dalton seconded the motion.
The board also approved a request from Bruce Woodward, Bruce Woodward Realty, to permit two identification signs facing Union Street at 827 S. Union St. on the north and south sides of the property.
The signs will advertise Edgewood Professional Center, Lake City Natural Health, Woodward Realty on the north entry and Erich Griffith D.C. Uptown Chiropractic Clinic, James L. Walmer Attorney At Law and a space reserved for a future tenant on the south end.
Ron Shoemaker made the motion, seconded by Jack Wilhite.
